A contender like Carolina wouldn't make that trade without having a very clear understanding of what Rantanen wanted. An extension is coming. Marchand isn't being traded either.

Would love to hear more about some of the depth guys that are almost certainly on the move...Ryan Donato, Nyquist, Pius Suter, if Boston does sell a guy like Brazeau is intriguing. Jason Zucker probably gets traded. Ask some sources where they are all going.

Tulsky has said they have an understanding of what he wants and weren't going to try and force the guy to decide if he wanted to stay in one place for the next 8 years when he's only actually been in the city for a week.

Sakic went down the extension path earlier this year and decided to cut bait

You keep saying Sakic but he isn't the Avs' GM, that would be Chris MacFarland who's been GM since July '22.

Well you know what he means. It's the same franchise. Unlike that time sources said Yzerman was working on a big trade for Tampa...even though he was in his 2nd season as GM in Detroit.

Not sure the Canucks will be doing any big game hunting for Rantanen barely hanging onto a wildcard spot. They have guys that can score but Tocchet has turned them into D first players.

As far as the Blackhawks trades forthcoming this trade deadline and beyond, S Jones most likely is not changing address real soon..

Some thoughts most about Jones and trades:

There are many teams unhappy with their top 1-4 dmen. Jones makes mistakes, sure, doesn't ⁹stop his man from getting past him but Jones is bigger faster than most likely anyone.you can trade for. And it is not the dollars amount but the length of.contract at that amount..Higher salary cap....yeah .....nice....but five years is a long time even if another team pays some of it [us].

The Blackhawks want to be a swarming very fast skating in your face team = game plan. They need players who can score. They won't get but only one of the top tier prospects from the not very deep tier I '25 draft.. No one is trading us a top tier pick and we aren't trading any of the kids we already selected. Unless Korchinski for a nearly ready forward could happen

Bedard will be a center long term. He has been and will continue to improve what have been weakness areas in his game.

You want Martone then Schaeffer followed by Misa then Hagens in that order. Martone can be a scorer and is big physical side helps. Schaeffer is a future #1 pair can score from anywhere and is good both ways. Misa more likely a center than wing in pros and Hagens is last of top four. Martone and Schaeffer would probably not go to Rockford; most kids we draft or have choosen will prep in the AHL.

Thinking Soderblom has shown he can be the #1 but they need another top goaltender prospect..Comesso may be ok but he will not become a stud..Probably look to draft a goaltender round two but depends on what players still there who Davidson really likes.

Donato I expect will get moved. Mrzak maybe. Smith if someone wants him fine. Reichel sticking around but next year he needs to take a step forward

I had said Jones traded is more a dream and right now I say he isn't moved for at least one year. He sure isn't going to Dallas after the Stars and Sharks hooked up.

Eklund thread has good commentary today

I know some Chicago Blackhawk site readers and bloggers are looking here, too

I have a surprise innthe form of AHL Rockfird player development
If that is what you want to call it

Marcel Marcel with 2+ 2 four point nights
Second goal was empty net though.

I think it would be a mistake to move Rantanen at all. Carolina is in win now mode. They cannot afford to subtract before playoffs. They gave up Necas to get him. It of course depends on the what the return would be but i dont think they are getting any one whos going to boost them to a cup like Rantanen.

This team has continued to fall short in the playoffs. Its time to take risks and go all in.
