My guess is this will be Torts last season behind the bench. If Mike Sullivan becomes available, probably first choice. Next choice could be Jay Woodcroft. I do not expect a serious run at David Carle or an assistant coach. - Trox88
I like the idea of Woodcroft as well. Still a young enough guy to grow as the team grows. There might be some interest there on his part also. He inquired about sitting in on their practices a little while back. If they should go that route, he’s available now.
Make the move before the season is over, like Ek said. Give him an early look before the offseason and please let him pick his own assistants. No Jerry Jones scenario. |

it has been reported that he wanted off the bench to move upstairs in Colombus and the GM told him to pound sand - corduroy
Well, we should follow suite then. I like him as a coach, but it’s time to move on. Not interested in him being in the FO. |

Hockey trades barely exist anymore. What GMs out there are dumb enough or desperate enough to make one for Laughton or Ristolainen?
Yzerman, Treliving and Bowman are the only ones I can think of. |

Trades are hard I heard. Guess that excuses the flyers conglomerate of 3. Who says they are the only 2 you have to move? Flyers have pretty much a full roster of players who could be moved.
Seems to me several have been made recently. |

Most trades fall into two categories: contract related or lockerroom issues. Rantanen was contract related and Miller was a lockerroom issue. The return on Rantanen would classify as a hockey trade even though if Rantanen wasn’t a pending UFA is doesn’t get made. Also looks like Colorado badly abused Carolina on that trade if Rantanen doesn’t resign.
I think the best the Flyers can hope for is picks and or prospects. That’s if they move Laughton or Ristolainen which I don’t think is very likely because they have term and Briere can punt to next season. |

Dallas is interesting. They have been looking for help on the back end and with guys on LTIR they could easily take on a deal like Risto.
I am actually a little confident this year that Laughton and Risto are moved. Not sure why but just a feeling.

Nills a smart GM who doesn’t like to move first round picks too often. He already moved his 2025 first. I doubt he would move his 2026 first round pick too. |

Jones stated recently, if the Flyers make a move we will not hear about ahead of time via rumours. So as the rumours swirl, keep this in mind. |

No, Ill give Jones the benefit of the doubt on this one. One thing for sure is that most if not all of the deals Briere and Jones have pulled have been on the downlow right up until the point they were announced. They got their leaks locked down that is for sure.

They have made one deal since last years deadline. They have made 3 total since the start of the 2023 season. Not hard to keep things quiet when you are barely working.
Edit: 4 total. I forget the Erik Johnson acquisition. |

I'm kind of leaning towards Russ Cohen's view on Dallas, why would Dallas trade Lian Bichsel, a young 6' 7" defenseman who looks like he can play? |

Because Risto is the Flyers best dman and a legit top 4 with 2+ years of control. Dallas is in win now mode.
They can use Risto's playoff experience. |

I look for Tampa to be very active. They need a couple bottom 6 guys as they are getting limited production in that area. Maybe a dman to solidify that group. |

Been trying to find a way to say this on the farabee/frost trade. I want to say Kuzmenko has most talent of the 3 but I look at Frost and he has talent, younger and you feel like untapped talent. Then you recall, Frost has not and might not ever tap the rest of his talent. That leads to Kuz, maybe the highest talent, knowing who he is and how to use the talent. I do like his skill set and approach to the game.
I will say if Flames keep feeding frost ice time, he will probably put up 55 -60 points a season. Farabee, I hope it clicks for him. |

55-60 points was Frost Ceiling back when he was a prospect for us. That is no longer to be the case. He is a 40 point 3rd line C
