The Oilers are acquiring forward Trent Frederic from the Bruins in a trade that will also involve the Devils as a third team, according to Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet. Winger Max Jones is also headed from Boston to Edmonton in the deal, Frank Seravalli of Daily Faceoff reports. The Devils announced they’ve acquired the rights to left-wing prospect Shane Lachance from the Oilers and will retain 50% of Frederic’s salary in the trade, bringing his cap hit for Edmonton down to $1.15MM from $2.3MM. New Jersey also dealt the signing rights to right-winger Petr Hauser to the Oilers to complete their involvement.
Oilers receive: Frederic, Jones, signing rights to Hauser
Devils receive: Signing rights to Lachance
Bruins receive: D Maximus Wanner, the Blues’ 2025 second-round pick, and the Oilers’ 2026 fourth-round pick.

Well, obviously the NJD have given up on the season. With a strong overwhelming need for a third line center. They get one and then trade him? I don’t really understand that, other than the fact that they know how serious Jack’s injury is and know the season is a waste at this point.

And considering the value of the player, that could be very seriously injured and you’re keeping the fan base in absolute darkness. Don’t tell me you don’t know the extent of the injury by now it’s your star player your franchise player. The fans have skin in this game also.
