oh man, yep, remember that stuff in '86 with Larouche?
- jimbro83

I remember the Don Maloney bit more. He told Maloney that I know you're never going to score, but could you at least keep it out of our net.

Jan, there's two key words omitted whether quoted by you off Vince Mercogliano's possible omission, or simply your overlook if his words included the two; whose of which I never saw.
In either case, the omission was per your blog's words stating as a "shocking" stat, "the Rangers have failed to score a goal 6-on-5 this season."

The two key words omitted above, which I added in quoted caps, should have made the above line in quotes read per fact; "the Rangers have failed to score a "GAME TYING" goal 6-on-5 this season."

Via at least one 6-on-5 means & instance, (as I wrote last Saturday I believe, per one leadership reason I feel J.T. Miller** will be the next NYR Captain); the Rangers have scored at minimum this one following paragraph's 6-on-5 means goal this season.
It occurred just last Thursday in their second one-goal home loss within 3 weeks to the Leafs, with Igor pulled for the extra skater making it a 6-on-5 with the Rangers down 4-2. Then with a TOR. deep zone faceoff with 1:06 left, J.T. Miller,** (& not Lav'y), during a timeout taken only spoke & directed his on ice skaters of key as to his plan off the faceoff; whereby Kreider scored on a deflection in front (of course), to cut the Leafs lead to what would be a final score of 4-3 with about 30+ seconds remaining.

Michael Del Zotto was a -6 in that series Dan Girardi was a +5

that series seems like a lifetime ago and Kreider had 3 goals

I get what you are saying...or trying to, at least.

Torts was not responsible for players diving in front of Chara blasts from the point. Yes, guys did that crazy sh!t (and paid for it, too), but that was not on Torts...he did not run the defense.

What Torts was responsible for was conditioning and making players give maximum effort every shift...and trying to control Sean Avery.

- mames11

Torts on numerous instances repeatedly said to Rangers MSG & radio broadcasters, Rangers reporters, & more that he wanted whomever was in position to block key shots in every game. He demanded it so from every single one of his skaters, no matter if they were defensive/P. Kill role players, nor their top goal & assist producers on their first two lines.

That was one reason why some key offensive players grew tired of his excessive demands affecting their games, along with his abuse or abrasiveness used on them otherwise; which still existed as a Flyers head coach until today's firing of him.

Saver, I have lots of things I can say, but I am going to refrain. I remind you of the past issues and ask you not to fall down the same pattern as you did previously. Leaving it at that.
