I can’t for the life of me understand how teams who get screwed on stuff like this don’t lose it on the league?

There must be some trade off in the schedule for teams like the leafs to make them be ok with that many back to backs no?

If not letting they happen is pathetic by MLSE & any/ every other team who gets screwed with a disproportional number of back to backs.

- Cush29

They have to live in Winnipeg. Gotta give them something.

Well, apparently it was the biggest game of the year last night and even the panthers were missing key players, the leafs stepped up most of the game.
Marner was a beast, willy, JT and matthews all played well as well.

Not done though, wont mean much if they lose against cbus.
Plus they have the panthers and lightning after that. Keep that intensity up.

Meh, every year some other team has to lead the league in b2b's and as they add more or longer breaks thats gonna keep happening.
No big deal.

I agree, but they can and should even it out.

Reminds me of the stoopid MLB crossover League games. They cross over but don’t play the same teams, which can be very unfair. (frank) that.

Some teams like Winnipeg probably have longer travel most of the season. so stuff like that prob evens out over a season.

i dont think its a huge deal

7 games left

some round numbers left to hit for some players. and my scientific % on if they hit it or not

Marner needs 7 points to get 100 - 90%
JT needs 4 goals to get 40 - 40%
AM needs 1 goal to get 30 - 99%
Knies needs 4 goals to get to 30 - 30%
Nylander need 8 goals to get 50 - 5%

Disagree strongly.

8 vs 16 is a big deal and can have a very real impact on points, standings and potential injuries IMO.

I get the travel argument - I just don't buy it to the degree of 50% more back to backs is all - especially in today's world.

IMO

Travelling doesn't create as much risk of injury to your players as playing back to back nights does.

Travelling doesn't create as many situations where your team is dog tired & has to play a game risking losing points and places in the standings.

Plus how bad is travelling for a pro athlete in today's world?

Anyhow it's a moot point, I supposed all the teams agree to the schedule before it's official (or I assume so) just seems so weird to me.

Sure, but it usually rotates year to year. Last year it seems new jersey had the most b2b games.
This year it seems the leafs are tied for 3rd in most b2b games.
They are an eastern conference team that is geographically close to many teams. So they may be consistently in the top 10 of b2b games.
It is what it is.

Since we've helped you by sweeping the Panthers this season, would you guys mind destroying the (frank)ing Jackets on Saturday?

That'd be nice. Thanks.

Maybe try being clearer if that's not what you meant then because when you say things like basically a win doesn't matter if they don't win the next game it sure sounds like you being a Debbie Downer.

Sure it would. The disruption of routine and sleep could easily impact them.
Anywho, its the nhl, their scheduling is often a mess of feast or famine and Im sure its like that most teams.

Ok coach.
I didnt say "it doesnt matter", just pointed out it wont mean much if they dont continue to show up for all games going forward.
Its great that they won, but they have to keep the pedal to the metal and not giveaway points down the stretch. Show up, play hard, if they still lose thats fine but they cant afford not to show up on time or put forth their best effort this time of year.

Hence "Not done though"

Meh, the habs bore me....hope they miss the playoffs....they can join next year.

But you are correct, here's hoping we beat cbus...and then the panthers....lightning...then the habs....leafs can lose to the hurricanes, then beat the sabres, and lose to detroit in OT.

That should be easy to do no? 5-1-1.

...heck 4-2-1 would fine as well.

Actually I guess 0 -7 would work as well as long as they make it to the 3rd round in the playoffs.....thats all I truly care about.

But just save us the stress and drama

Now now, go back to whining unnecessarily about our future captain and superstar Willie "He's your huckleberry" Nylander.

No Jays game today.
