That’s why I won’t be distraught when they win Thursday as long as they don’t fall to 8. Other people like Sportsnet and Pronman have Desnoyers 3rd overall and Hagens down to 5. If they stay in the top 7 they would really have to try and screw this up. That being said I thought if they stayed in the top 13 last year they couldn’t screw it up either but they certainly did. - psuhockey
I believe with the Ducks picking up a point last night, the Flyers can finish no lower than 7th before the lottery. |

no worries. They will win against buffalo and pick 7th overall. Both will be off the board. 4th pick to 7th in a week.....well done boys. - Peter Richards
So far since Torts was fired, the flyers have played 8 games, picking up points in 6 of those games. |

Torts must have been the reason that Frost and Farabee struggled so much in Philly. I mean, those guys are really lighting it up in Calgary!! Eh what? |

I would be distraught if they finish 7th. IMO, I think there is little doubt that 3 prospects will be gone within the top 5-Schaefer, Misa, and Martone. I would really hope the Flyers get 4th and by some weird hockey selections Martone or Misa could be sitting right there at 4.
Play Kolosov, Kaplan, and Deslauriers.

I love Martones game….but I fear they will go for a center even if he’s not the BPA…my preference is Frondell….if they take a C, but Desnoyers apparently is a kid they like….rated 9th overall all …lol….just like “the I’m smarter then everyone else” Flyers to take the 9th rated prospect with the 4th pick.

I could be completely wrong, but I am not as concerned about the Flyers interest in Desnoyers. For the most part under the current regime, they really do not tip their hand on who they like before it happens. Last 3 drafts, they have taken pretty risky picks. Gauthier was a late riser and not considered a top 5 pick until right before the draft. Drafted more on physical attributes then actual production on the ice. Michkov was considered a hockey savant, but questions about being a good teammate and when would come over from the KHL. Luchanko was a very young center with more physical skills then production in juniors. If this holds true, then I believe Frondell would make more sense then Desnoyers. I agree it would take real courage for Briere to draft another winger, which the Martone's profile they do not have in the organization. Sadly, I do not believe he would pull the trigger on Martone given the chance if Schaefer and Misa are off the board.

Of course! The Flyers always play better when the pressure is off.

Hah yes, it was definitely Torts' that brought those guys down. I always liked Farabee so was hoping a change of scenery would benefit. As for Frosty, he is what he is...a third/fourth liner. At least he has had a better career than Jason Akeson.

Torts tried every method plausible to light a fire under him and it just didn't work. Will be interesting to see what kind of contract he gets now that his current contract has expired. Not sure what the deal is with Farabee? Seems like a guy that is lost in the wilderness. Perhaps the hip surgery? I dunno...he had the least minutes of TOI amongst the Flames forwards last night in a game that still had possible playoff implications. |

Was hanging out on the Rags blog this morning cause it's been so quiet here lately and it sounds like Panarin may be in dutch if certain allegations are true. |

Rangers in a very bad place, might be time to rebuild, but have a couple of 30+ players on high salary with significant term left on their contract. Hard to tank with a top 5 goalie signed long-term.
