Nazareth - Hair of the Dog

A classic, and very likely my theme song.

The GNR Version... not as good but does the job.

Heart breaker, soul shaker
I've been told about you
Steamroller, midnight stroller
What they've been sayin' must be true

Red hot mama
Long-legged charmer
Time's come to pay your dues

Now you're messin' with a
A son of a b*tch
Now you're messin' with a son of a b*tch
Now you're messin' with a
A son of a b*tch
Now you're messin' with a son of a b*tch

Talkin' jivey, poison ivy
You ain't gonna cling to me
Man taker, born faker
I ain't so blind I can't see

Red hot mama
Long-legged charmer
Time's come to pay your dues

Now you're messin' with a
A son of a b*tch
Now you're messin' with a son of a b*tch
Now you're messin' with a
A son of a b*tch
Now you're messin' with a son of a b*tch

Now you're messin' with a
A son of a b*tch
Now you're messin' with a son of a b*tch
Now you're messin' with a

Time of the season - the zombies
good tune

It's the time of the season
When the love runs high
In this time, give it to me easy
And let me try
With pleasured hands

To take you and the sun to
Promised lands
To show you every one
It's the time of the season for loving

What's your name?
(What's your name?)
Who's your daddy?
(Who's your daddy? He rich?)
Is he rich like me?

Has he taken
(Has he taken)
Any time
(Any time to show)
To show you what you need to live?
Tell it to me slowly
Tell you what?
I really want to know
It's the time of the season for loving

What's your name?
(What's your name?)
Who's your daddy?
(Who's your daddy? He rich?)
Is he rich like me?

Has he taken
(Has he taken)
Any time
(Any time to show)
To show you what you need to live?
Tell it to me slowly
Tell you what?
I really want to know
It's the time of the season for loving

Jimi Hendrix - Crosstown Traffic (1968)

You jump in front of my car when you,
You know all the time that
Ninety miles an hour, girl, is the speed I drive
You tell me its alright, you don't mind a little pain
You say you just want me to take you for a ride

You're just like crosstown traffic
So hard to get through to you
Crosstown traffic
I don't need to run over you
Crosstown traffic
All you do is slow me down
And I'm trying to get on the other side of town

I'm not the only soul who's accused of hit and run
Tire tracks all across your back
I can see you had your fun
But darling cant you see my signals turn from green to red
And with you I can see a traffic jam straight up ahead

You're just like crosstown traffic
So hard to get through to you
Crosstown traffic
I don't need to run over you
Crosstown traffic
All you do is slow me down
And I got better things on the other side of town

Today's song, still on 60s (and Praxie, Nazareth wasn't the 60s, man), and will also do for movie of the day from "Apocalypse Now"

Paint it Black
The Rolling Stones

I see a red door and I want it painted black
No colors anymore I want them to turn black
I see the girls walk by dressed in their summer clothes
I have to turn my head until my darkness goes

I see a line of cars and they're all painted black
With flowers and my love, both never to come back
I see people turn their heads and quickly look away
Like a newborn baby it just happens ev'ryday

I look inside myself and see my heart is black
I see my red door and it has been painted black
Maybe then I'll fade away and not have to face the facts
It's not easy facing up when your whole world is black

No more will my green sea go turn a deeper blue
I could not forsee this thing happening to you
If I look hard enough into the setting sun
My love will laugh with me before the morning comes

I see a red door and I want it painted black
No colors anymore I want them to turn black
I see the girls walk by dressed in their summer clothes
I have to turn my head until my darkness goes

Hmm, hmm, hmm...

I wanna see it painted black, painted black
Black as night, black as coal
I wanna see the sun, blotted out from the sky
I wanna see it painted, painted, painted, painted black
Yeah

THIS WEEK'S THEME IS MUSIC FEATURED IN A MOVIE

- Eggshmeg

First one to pop into my mind was this one:

Murder By Numbers (from Movie of the same name)
The Police

Once that you've decided on a killing
First you make a stone of your heart
And if you find that your hands are still willing
Then you can turn a murder into art

There really isn't any need for bloodshed
You just do it with a little more finesse
If you can slip a tablet into someone's coffee
Then it avoids an awful lot of mess

Because it's murder by numbers one two three
It's as easy to learn as your ABCs
It's murder by numbers one two three
It's as easy to learn as your ABCs

Now if you have a taste for this experience
And you're flushed with your very first success
Then you must try a twosome or a threesome
And you'll find your conscience bothers you much less

Because murder is like anything you take to
It's a habit-forming need for more and more
You can bump off every member of your family
And anybody else you find a bore

Because it's murder by numbers one two three
It's as easy to learn as your ABCs
It's murder by numbers one two three
It's as easy to learn as your ABCs

Now you can join the ranks of the illustrious
In history's great dark hall of fame
All our greatest killers were industrious
At least the ones that we all know by name

But you can reach the top of your profession
If you become the leader of the land
For murder is the sport of the elected
And you don't need to lift a finger of your hand

Because it's murder by numbers one two three
It's as easy to learn as your ABCs
Murder by numbers one two three
It's as easy to learn as your ABCDEs

One two three, ABC
One two three, ABC
One two three, ABC

I said because it's murder by numbers one two three
It's as easy to learn as your ABCs
It's murder by numbers one two three
It's as easy to learn as your ABCDEs

Well I heard about the fellow youve been dancin with
All over the neighbourhood
So why didnt you ask me baby?
Didnt you think I could?

Well I know that the boogaloo is outta sight
But to shake a leisure thing tonight
Would it happen to me and you baby?
I wanna show you how to do it right...

Do it right. uh huh. do it right. do it right, do it right, do it right,
Do it right!
Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

[chorus]

Twist it! shake it, shake it, shake it, shake it baby!
Here we go loop di loo!
Shake it out baby!
Here we go loop di lie!

Bend over, let me see you shake your tail feather (bis)
Come on, let me see you shake your tail feather (bis)

Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

[chorus] (again!)

Come on! come on babe! come on! yeah come on babe!

Alright!

Do the twist!

And the... what about the food?

Do the mashed potato!

What about the boogaloo?

Ok, here's another you youngsters probably won't know, but it was a biggie in my generation. From the movie:

Tin Soldier
The Stone Ponies (with Linda Ronstadt)

Listen, children, to a story
That was written long ago
'Bout a kingdom on a mountain
And the valley folk below
On the mountain was a treasure
Buried deep beneath a stone
And the valley people swore
They'd have it for their very own

Go ahead and hate your neighbor
Go ahead and cheat a friend
Do it in the name of Heaven
You can justify it in the end
There won't be any trumpets blowing
Come the judgment day
On the bloody morning after
One tin soldier rides away

So, the people of the valley
Sent a message up the hill
Asking for the buried treasure,
Tons of gold for which they'd kill
Came an answer from the kingdom,
"With our brothers, we will share
All the secrets of our mountain,
All the riches buried there"

Now, the valley cried with anger,
"Mount your horses, draw your sword!"
And they killed the mountain people
So, they won their just reward
Now, they stood beside the treasure
On the mountain dark and red
Turn the stone and looks beneath it...
"Peace on Earth" was all it said

Go ahead and hate your neighbor
Go ahead and cheat a friend
Do it in the name of Heaven
You can justify it in the end
There won't be any trumpets blowing
Come the judgment day
On the bloody morning after
One tin soldier rides away

Go ahead and hate your neighbor
Go ahead and cheat a friend

Dude.. I used to sing that song at camp when I was a wee lad.

Such a good song. A little cheesey, but man, it was fun to sing for sure.

MADE ME WEEP A LITTLE ONCE! Just a little though.

I'll have to check out the movie, looks like a sergio leoni film, although I wouldn't be suprised if it was quite different.

THIS WEEK'S THEME IS MUSIC FEATURED IN A MOVIE

- Eggshmeg

One of the all time greats from the 60's. See Easy Rider:

The Pusher:

You know I smoked a lot of grass
Oh lord I pumped a lot of pills
But I never touched nothin
that my spirit could kill
You know I've seen a lot of people
walking around with tombstone in their eyes
But the pusher don't care, ah
if you live or if you die
God damn hhm the pusher
god damn he hei I say the pusher
I say god damn god damn the pusherman

You know the dealer, the dealer is a man
with a lot of grass in his hand
Ah but the pusher is a monster
good god he's not a natural man
The dealer,for a nickel lord
he'll sell you lots of sweet dreams
Ah but the pusher'llruin your body
lord he'll leave... he'll leave your mind to scream
god damn ahh the pusher.
god damn,god damn the pusher.
I said god damn god god damn the pusherman

Well lord if I were the president
of this land you know I'd declare
total war on the pusherman
I'd cut him if he stands and
I shoot him if he'd run and
I'd kill him with my bible
with my razor and my gun
god damn all the pusher.
god damn... all the pusher.
I said god damn god damn the pusherman!

Did you see the movie. It's the first one I can remember that had a really good sound track. I saw it at the Boulevard Twin Theatres as a teenager and was just blown away, the ending left me speachless. Written by Hoyt Axton: Never Been to Spain, Heartbreak Hotel.

Of course, I think we established were about the same age. It was and remains a powerful movie.

Song of the day: another from Blues Brothers from a show I grew up with (Clint Eastwood's first gig).

Theme from Rawhide

Rollin' Rollin' Rollin'
Rollin' Rollin' Rollin'
Rollin' Rollin' Rollin'
Rollin' Rollin' Rollin'
Rawhide!

Rollin' Rollin' Rollin'
Though the streams are swollen
Keep them doggies rollin',
Rawhide

Rain and wind and weather
Hell bent for leather
Wishin' my gal was by my side

All the things I'm missin'
Good vittles, love and kissin'
Are waiting at the end of my ride

Move 'em on
(Head em' up!)
Head em' up
(Move 'em on!)
Move 'em on
(Head em' up!)
Rawhide!

Cut 'em out
(Ride 'em in!)
Ride 'em in
(Cut em' out!)
Cut 'em out
Ride 'em in,
Rawhide!

Keep movin', movin', movin'
Though they're disaprovin'
Keep them doggies movin',
Rawhide

Don't try to understand 'em
Just rope, throw, and brand 'em
Soon we'll be livin' high and wide

My heart's calculatin'
My true love will be waitin'
Be waitin' at the end of my ride

Move 'em on

Nirvana- Heart-Shaped Box

She eyes me like a pisces when I am weak
I've been locked inside your heart-shaped box for weeks
I've been drawn into your magnet tar pit trap
I wish I could eat your cancer when you turn black
Hey
Wait (3x)
I got a new complaint
Forever in debt to your priceless advice
your advice
Meat-eating orchids forgive no one just yet
Cut myself on angel hair and baby's breath
Broken hymen of your highness I'm left black
Throw down your umbilical noose so I can climb right back
Hey
Wait (3x)
I got a new complaint
Forever in debt to your priceless advice
your advice
{solo}
She eyes me like a pisces when I am weak
I've been locked inside your heart-shaped box for weeks
I've been drawn into your magnet tar pit trap
I wish I could eat your cancer when you turn black
Hey
Wait (3x)
I got a new complaint
Forever in debt to your priceless advice
your advice
