I was joking, Egg. I respect all music except rap. But if your serious in your claim.... you are insane. Only the skilled can play the guitars, or intrustments for that matter, of many of these bands.

I'm more of a chill guy then a rock out guy, very unlike you I bet. That's why our musical tastes are so different.

I'm a strange one musically. Sounds corny but I like emotions. I like to have my metal, alternative rock, rock or slow rock. All screaming and guitars blazing would get me bored, thus I like some clean vocals with slower music. Chevelle is one my favorite bands for this, they do it so beautifully.

Here's why I hate rap:

I really try to get the whole image thing out of my music. I listen to a song, if I like it, I like it. I rarely ever even know the names of the people in the bands. Music should be about the music, nothing else. Rap is 90% image. It's all about intimidation and "toughness" (seriously, get these guys in a UFC ring and let's see just how tough they are without their guns). If you boil down rap to just the music, there really is no substance to it. That's why I hate it. Not all rap is terrible, but this mainstream "gangster" crap has to go.

I prefer good songwriting over seeing how fast you can pound on your guitar. But hey, that's just me

Very well said, Egg. Thankfully, rap is slowly making it's way out the door. More and more it is drifting away. Being replaced with emo bands like Good Charlotte..... but hey, it's better than rap atleast. Whatever happened to the 90's where Rage Against The Machine, OLP, Smashing Pumpkins, etc. were the cool bands? I miss those days.

That's just it, almost all bands I listen to have excellent song writing, just a few of them scream their lyrics. It bugs me, but I love the skill of screaming, because if you can't do it right.....it's terrible to listen to. Don't get me wrong though, I enjoy clean vocals much more. This is why I love Avenged Sevenfold, they have the guitars of a metal band, and then some, and they sing clean vocals ( although not the best singer, he's getting better)

I've always loved OLP, but I don't think they were ever a "cool" band.

Yeah I agree with all of that, but there is some okay rap out there, and I liked Eminem.
