Also, RIP, Mike Smith... lead singer of the DC5, who will be inducted into the R&R Hall of Fame this month... he died a couple of weeks short of their induction.

You could probably pass that off as one of Scriabin's sonatas or a Liszt Transcendental Etude.

That was actually better than one of the pieces I heard at the Haddonfield Symphony; it was one of those classicals that is akin to the abstract art in painting... I swear that that was really easier to sit through than the Haddonfield one -- funny thing was watching all the snobs who felt that they had to applaud and say how good it was; I had to surpress booing.

That pooch had talent.

Easter Eggs in Music:

Happy Cycling (Boards Of Canada) - Boards of Canada / E.L.O. Easter Egg
At the very end of the track "Happy Cycling" by Boards Of Canada, there's a reverse-speech message. If you play it backwards it turns out to be an excerpt of a 1970's interview with Jeff Lynn from E.L.O., in which you can hear him denying the use of 'backward masking' in E.L.O.'s music. You can hear him say 'someone would have to be a genius to do that' etc.

LIVING NEXT DOOR TO ALICE By Smokie (1977)
Written by Nicky Chinn and Mike Chapman
(((Clean version... there is a party version [FF16])))
Transcribed by Frantic Freddy; What I Hear Is What You Get (errors included)

Sally called when she got the word
And she said "I suppose you've heard, 'bout Alice"
Well I rushed to the window, and I looked outside
But I could hardly believe my eyes
As a big limousine rode up onto Alice's drive

Chorus:
Oh, I don't know why she's leaving, or where she's gonna go
I guess she's got her reasons but I just don't wanna know
'Cos for 24 years I've been living next door to Alice
24 years just waitin' for a chance
To tell her how I feel and maybe get a second glance
Now I gotta get used to not living next door to Alice
((((ALICE? ALICE? WHO THE HELL IS ALICE? <==== sung by audience [FF16])))

We grew up together, two kids in the park
Carved out initials deep in the bark, me an' Alice
Now she walks through the door, with her head held high
Just for a moment I caught her eye
As the big limousine pulled slowly out of Alice's drive

(chorus)

Then Sally called back, and asked how I felt
And she said, "I know how to help, to get over Alice"
She said, "Now Alice is gone, but I'm still here
You know, I've been waiting 24 years..."
And the big limousine disappeared

I don't know why she's leaving, or where she's gonna go
I guess she's got her reasons but I just don't wanna know
'Cos for 24 years I've been living next door to Alice
24 years just waitin' for a chance
To tell her how I feel and maybe get a second glance
But I'll never get used to not living next door to Alice
No, I'll never get used to not living next door to Alice

Black Tide - Shockwave

Pretty damn impressive. The singer/lead guitarist is 15 years old and the rest of the members are between 17-19 years old. Big things ahead for this band.

Animal Collective - "Peacebone"

Bonefish.

A Peacebone got found in the dinosaur wing
Well I've been jumpin in all over, but my fuels are slowly shrinking
It was a jugular vein in a juggler's girl
It was supposedly leaking most interesting colors

Well half of my fingers
are dipped in the sand
You're progressin' letters that you use to cook your broccoli
The other side of takeout is mildew on rice

And an obsession with the past is like a kid flying
Just a few things are related to the old times
When we did believe in magic and we didn't die
It's not my words that you should follow, it's your insight
Insight...You trust your

I bet the monster was a-happy when we made him a maze
Cause he don't understand intentions a-he just looks at your face
And then the bubbles exploded and tickled the bath
And all the birds were very curious all the fish were at the surface

Well half of me waiting for myself to get calm
I'm like a pelican at red tide
I'm a corpse, I'm not a fisherman
A blow out does not mean I will have a good night

And an obsession with the past is like a kid flying
Just a few things are related to the old times
When we did believe in magic and we didn't die
It's not my words that you should follow, it's your insight
Insight...You trust your

chanting

Well I start in a hose and I end in a yard
And when I feel like I'm stealing I can keep myself from hearing God
I need the taste that you're cookin' could make me bow on the ground
It was the clouds that called the mountains
It was the mountains that made the kids scream

Well she wore all her apartments
She never was found
You think you're talkin' about the New York
To be an artist, but are you anything?
You find out that you can't ask a baby to cry

And an obsession with the past is like a kid flying
Just a few things are related to the old times
When we did believe in magic and we didn't die
It's not my words that you should follow, it's your insight
Insight...You trust your

Nice, but different Alice.

Who the F____ is Alice? is the name of the song, it was very popular in Europe.
