FOOD CHAIN - Eric Hutchinson

Don't let this affect the game every five months we act the same
but I never get used to putting you off
and no one could've scripted this who knows what'll come of it
i refuse to believe it was all just a waste

CHORUS
cause look around
everybody's on the food chain
funny but from day to day we get from bottom to top
and if you get lost you start over again
but we don't ever get to no we don't ever get to stop

i wake up in this oblivious state go to sleep trying to save some face
cause i've never been one for acting naïve
and so what we've got nothing to prove
why on earth would we soften the mood
do we think that this wire is better left live

i would've known better if i was on the outside
i would've known better if i was on the outside
looking in looking in
but this chain just eats away at the people who use it
no ones gonna say that it's easier losing
touch with who we need
when it's lonlier on the outside

CHORUS

Some songs in honour of what today represents, regardless what you feel about certain wars or war in general, we can all respect and honour the sacrifices of those who have fallen in the field of human battle.

I realize that this is a song of the day thread, but this has always remained one of my favourites and I think has more meaning on a day like today.

The Mills Brothers - Till Then

Till then, my darling, please wait for me
Till then, no matter when it may be
One day I know I'll be home again
Please wait (till) till then

Our dreams will live though we are apart
Our love will always stay in our hearts
Till then, when of the world will be free
Please wait for me

Although there are oceans we must cross and mountains that we must climb
I know every gain must have a loss, so pray that our loss is nothing but time

Till then, we'll dream of what there will be
Till then, we'll call on each memory
Till then, when I will hold you again
Please wait till then

first time I saw Billy was in Bethlehem PA circa 1983, when I was 13 years old...its was the closest he could play to Allentown PA to perform the song of the same name. I had no idea who Billy Joel was then, now a big fan

True factoid... Billy's long time drummer, Liberty Devitto, was the one that Muppet drummer, Animal, was patterned after:

I just love 'Stiletto'... especially LIVE.

That along with 'Pressure' were high among my very favorites to see him do live... when he was younger and performed much more actively on stage. He would jump on the speakers and piano and spin around the supports and such... as well as go wild on the keyboard.
