My dad is a super fan. Neil played in our home town years ago.. and he and my mom hung around the tour bus while the opener was playing (the Judds) waiting for Neil to get off .. so they got to meet him.. sign autographs, take pics. After the show .. they went and hung out by the only major hotel in town .. thinking if they were going to stay the night - it would be there. sure enough .. the bus pulled up .. Dad waited in the lobby .. told mom to wait by the bus .. hoping to see Neil come in. Dad met the band (international Harvesters) .. told them he was a super fan.. and they invited he and his brother upstairs. They were all going down for dinner (the restaurant was closed off for them ) so invited Dad & Chris to join them.. totally forgetting about Mom left on the street at midnight to stalk Neil. Neil gets off the bus .. and sees mom .. and recognizes her from before the show .. so he walks into the hotel .. arm around her .. just as my dad, etc are landing in the lobby ... they all go to dinner together ..

Seriously... That must have been a blast for them; they used their wits, had the 'guts' to follow through, and had a night that they'll remember for the rest of their lives.

I'll even bet that your mom didn't even take your dad to task for forgetting all about her.
