sens get outshot 37-30 again
and get 2 points

a very leafy season so far for them

- senstroll

Most shots from the periphery, but still shots, too many shots. Helps to have good goal-tending. In any case three points so far, on a three game western road trip, so not too bad.

After 17 games it would appear that the Senator's rebuild is proceeding rather well. If anything Senator fans should be concerned that short term success will lead to a loss of a potential lottery pick.

The Leafs on the other hand are now 7 years into their rebuild and you have to wonder if they really have an overall strategy that will see them actually emerge as a serious competitor at some point.

The Oil are now in the third year of their rebuild and it is clear that they will be a serious team in the very near future.

Overall, I think that it would be wise for the Senators to move Spezza and some other pieces in order to better accelerate their rebuild. If the Leafs do not find a better means of being competitive they should seek a more traditional form of rebuild. The Oilers do not need to do anything other than continue in the direction they are headed. I am at a loss to try and figure out what the game plan is in Calgary.

you seem to be off a little on these now

ottawa seems to be trying to cram a 3 year rebuild into 5 years now

the leafs imo are years ahead of the sens now with the moves since shannahan took over.

Edmonton has just spun out again. i think they are better than the standings how..but that doesnt matter.. they need to go for Mcdavid now

do you regret abandoning the leafs to jump on the Sens bandwagon only to stall it out?

Number one..........I was NEVER a leaf fan, so it would be impossible to have "abandoned" them.

Number two........The post you quoted was from a few years ago when the Senators roster still included Alfredsson, Gohnchar and Spezza.

Yes, they've cut down on scoring chances from the prime scoring locations. Yes they still give up to many shots.

If you take a look at their losses, ten of them have been by one goal. They've lost three by two goals, and one by three goals.

It's not like they're getting blown out, they just can't replace the offence they gave away in the Spezza deal, at thus time. They need a few of the younger players, that should have been sent to Binghamton for a year or two more, to develop at the NHL level.

I argued for years with Spatso, who wanted to trade Spezza four Seasons ago.

I knew that you never win a trade, when you're the team sending the best player in the trade away to another team. Anything to be gained from this trade, will not show up for years once the two prospects (not in the NHL) make the team.

Your Boss doesn't seem to mind you wasting his time and money surfing the internet, while at work, so perhaps you could mix in some solitaire too.

Remember when people were mocking the Leafs for only winning games in OT?

But it's ok to lose games if they're only by 1 goal.
