That is what you said, yes.
- prock

No this is what you're saying.

Robidas, with one goal and 6 assists, a pus 8 and averages just over 17 minutes per game, is more desirable to you, on the leafs than Karlsson with 15 goals, 24 assists and a plus 1, and who averages just over 27 minutes per game.

You would refuse a trade, if Karlsson was offered straight up for Robidas.

My standards include everything a player brings to the table, defence, offence, work ethic, sportsmanship, team work and whether or not they give a shit when their team is out of the playoff race.

But you've proven yourself as a GM, by refusing a straight trade of Karlsson for Robidas, which would NOT, in your mind, improve the leafs.

Remember when you only wanted to compare Ryan to Kessel in goals, because that's what goal scorers are paid for?

Pepperidge farms remembers.

Defenseman are paid for defense. According to you, +/- is the chief defensive stat. Therefore, according to you, Robidas>Karlsson.

Nice try at putting words in my mouth.

It must be really challenging these days, to find ways to spin something to prove how a cellar dwelling team that the players have collectively thrown in the towel for this season, is somehow better than their abysmal record proves they are.

The leafs are trying to tank the season, and sit 14 points out of thirtieth place, while the better team in Ontario has somehow manged to convince some people into believing they are in the hunt for the last Wild Card Slot in the Eastern Conference.

Yes the Senators have a shot at the Last Wild Card spot, but it's a long shot that will depend more on how three other teams play down the stretch, no matter how well the Senators play.
They do have more home games remaining than the other three teams do, but would need to win, in regulation at least 14 of their remaining games, while needing teams ahead of them to all falter enough to gain ground on the last Wild Card spot.

You'd also expect dmen to be physically strong and hit a lot, right?

Robidas has more than double the hits Karlsson does, in fewer games!

What fact?

The "fact" that you're trying to support, is that the leafs are a better team with Robidas instead of Karlsson, if the latter was traded for the former.

Please deal with reality please.

no I am saying you quote giveaway stats all the time...showing that a lot of giveaways is bad (you do it for Kessel all the time)

When actually it means those players generally have the puck a lot
A player like Robidas doesnt. a player that has a hard time getting the puck back and cant move it up ice will have low giveaways.

anyways Karlsson is a fancy stat beast for the most part...but you dont like them..so doesnt matter

We're using the arguments and constaints you've set out for analyzing players, that's all.

We're not saying Robidas is better, we're just saying all the ways you seem to feel players should be analyzed point to him being better.

So in essence, you're saying Robidas is better. And seem to be having a psychological split between your "logic" and your Leafs hate.

I don't hate the leafs, I love the soap opera that they present to us, each and every season.

I find it so funny that some leaf fans just can't hide their giddiness over a newly acquired player, prospect or pick and strap on their blue coloured goggles and insist that Kessel is a defensive beast, plays a complete 200 foot game and as soon as he is traded, will completly reverse their position on him.

These leaf fans give the rest of us plenty of entertainment to get through the long hard winter.

I think it's a pretty good D core (by the personnel they have), and when the goaltending finally stabilizes, and a decent system gets implemented, it'll be decent.
- prock

I think you've got it wrong. There is no lack of depth. There is lots of depth. Its a number one guy they're missing. Grabs is a great number two. Bozak is a solid third liner, could pass as a second in a pinch. But shouldn't be playing first. Connolly similar. Lombardi great depth centre. Obvious injury issues there though. Colborne should be good for a depth role next year. Lots of depth.

If he finds a first line centre somewhere, shift Bozak to third line, then there is connolly, lombardi and Colborne to fill in the rest. More than enough.

- prock

It will take a monumental disaster for any team in the NE to finish behind the Sens. They're worse at every position than every other team.

Who on earth has said Kessel is a defensive beast?

And why are you still changing the subject?

This thread is about the Senator's dismal rebuild.

Ottawa three points behind, making it interesting, and will play the Bruins on Tuesday.

Honestly Ottawa played their worst game last night, in the last month, and the "Hamburgler" let in two of the weakest goals I've ever seen. Buffalo looked like they were on the PK even when at even strength..........30th locked up for sure.

Will not be surprised if Anderson is ready, that he might be playing sooner than later.

Ottawa got their poop together and came back and won. From this post, it seems like you are very unforgiving on your goaltenders.

With that aside, I'm cheering hard for the Sens to get that wildcard spot.

He played spectacular on the road trip, and did not give up any soft goals, but both of the Sabres goals were the softest I've seen.

He's been on a roll, but it can't possibly last for the rest of the season. It would be great if it did, but last night and the goals scored on him in the Shoot out in Minnesota were sure signs of why he's been in the AHL until now.

I will not be surprised if Anderson Starts vs Calgary.

The same guy that sent Nylander to Sweden for half the season, before he realized his mistake and brought him over to the AHL, putting his development back a half a year ???

- Doppleganger

Scott Wheeler @scottcwheeler
#Leafs prospect William Nylander finished 2nd in U20 SHL scoring, 4 points behind #Caps prospect Jakub Vrana who played 23 more games.

Man, could you imagine how pumped Doppasto would be of the Sens had a prospect with a quarter of this guy's skill?

Have you looked at the top of the rookie scoring leaders chart lately?

Is he tearing up the AHL too?

Yes. I see the Senators have a 25 year old there that some fans may not be smart enough to realize won't be improving much, if at all. He's putting up points at a lower pace than Stajan did at 25. Interesting parallel, actually, as he was also a sub-average player getting big minutes on a bad team with a history of pick-ruining runs near the end. Only difference is it was actually the skaters doing most of the work, not the goalie.

But when your future is as dismal as the senator's, I guess you gotta grab on to what you can.

And yes, Nylander is doing fantastically in the AHL. after putting up only 2 points in 6 games getting adjusted, he's had 10 in the last 13. An insane pace for a 18 year old AHL rookie.

the Sens "Rookie" is older than Kadri and same age as JVR

Nylander is 18 and has 12 points in 19 games... gunna be a good one

You must be incredibly disappointed that your top rookie is such complete garbage he won't hit 15 points. That must be a huge disappointment to you.
