You must be incredibly disappointed that your top rookie is such complete garbage he won't hit 15 points. That must be a huge disappointment to you.

Mark Stone, rookie, 43 points.
Mike Hoffman, rookie, 42 points.

the Sens "Rookie" is older than Kadri and same age as JVR

Nylander is 18 and has 12 points in 19 games... gunna be a good one

- senstroll

10 in his last 13... Pretty safe to say he's adjusted to North American hockey.

Id be excited for Stone. Might be a legit top-6 forward for a while. Good size too.

It’s funny, his Swedish team doesn’t win much now that he’s gone. But the Marlies are winning more, that’s for sure.

Hoffman & Stone are playing with the top six forwards and on the PP, while Lazar is playing in the bottom 6, which as you may know, are different roles.

Hoffmann was drafted in the 5th round, and started his pro career in the ECHL, the progressed to the AHL playing two season there, and then a couple of half seasons with a few games with the Senators, before finally making the NHL roster full time this season.

I know it's hard for leaf fans to understand that most organizations take the necessary time to develop their drafted players, as they're used to having them thrust into the NHL (with the leafs) and more often than not, they're not ready and the team gives up on them after a few seasons, and ship them out to other teams.

For example. Detroit drafted Tomas Tatar in 2009, the 2nd round, and he played for Grand Rapids of the AHL for the better part of four seasons before he made the NHL roster as a rookie in 2013.

Hoffmann actually cleared waivers last season, when the Senators send him back to Binghamton after he'd played 25 games with them.......... a sharp leaf GM could have scooped him up for nothing.

So, Lazar is just a checking line plug that puts up 15 points a year?

I dont get this idea of him being too good for the CHL. Its not like he was dominant last year. When a kid plays for a good team and can't break the top 25 in scoring, you can't claim he's too good for a league. If guys like max domi and Darnell nurse can spend another year, why can't he?

Congrats kid. You made it through a 10 word sentence, with your only mistake being no capitalization. Have you been going to your classes?

He was never drafted to be a big scorer, its his strong play all over the ice .And work ethic that made him the player he is .I see him as a great 3rd line center,15 to 20 goals but with a very high end motor

You're right, but the Senators did NOT have the option to send him to the AHL this year, and they could have only sent him Junior if he did not make the team.

He's young and will grow into his role, and some time in the AHL next year will not surprise me after training camp.

To these leaf fans, stats don't lie, unless they make a leaf look bad, so Hoffmann, a rookie, has 24 goals and JVR and Kessel have 23 each.............but the question is, do these leaf fans still think that Carey Price is a mid level, average goaltender??

I hope so... Leafs need to stop scoring goals and suck more..
Sens can keep pushing towards the 14th pick ..celebrate the 25 year old rookie and keep him scoring

Senators playing meaningful games in March, leafs playing out the season since the first week of January.

Just wondering when the leafs had a rookie that scored 24 or more goals?

LOL.

I remember those "meaningful games" due to late season runs that had no chance to lead to playoffs.

If you were to check your precious "odds on making the playoffs" site, would the Sens have even gotten to 50%?

I remember being in denial about it also

this season feels much better than the disappointment I felt from these "meaningful" games

I am under no illusions that the Senators are going to make the playoffs............some people are, but not me.

But I see a team that is competing and playing hard for each other, no playing out the season as the mighty leafs have been doing since new years.

A lot of young players are getting a good look at what is needed to win in this part of the season, and hopefully they will build on this in the off season and come back better for it next season.

All your leafs are learning is where the annual leaf golf tournament will be played on April 10th, and they've already booked their plane tickets home on the day after.

Playing and winning games at this time of the season is much different than going on long win-less streaks that the leafs are doing.

So, you think they're meaningful because "the team tries real hard, but still can't do it".
