Like when leaf fans told us kadri was a bluechip 90 point forward??Or how good they were because they were the 2nd youngest team in the league ??Good times ,or now that they have the for sure method of not failing .Because they drafted 1st OA

- top shelf 15

Sure, maybe like that. But now we have true blue chip prospects. Prospects with elite potential, to do that with.

And you guys have a bunch of players that top out at Kadri's level. I mean, he is a good player, but he's not going to be a core piece of a cup winner.

So, I'm not too sure what you're pointing out. That the Sens are going down the same path as the Leafs circa 2009? that's what we've been trying to tell you.

Like who ??Not all draft picks pan out ,and some oversucceed.Stone,Hoffman,JGP and Ceci are all good nhlers ,with room in their games to grow .We have some others that should become nhlers, whether they become superstars is anybodies guess

It makes me howl with laughter that you're saying these guys have room to grow in their game, when you shot down that idea for Zibanejad, after he was traded of course.

Zibby has played 300 games ,he isnt going to turn into a front line center. He is what he is ,a decent 45 to 55 point center. That plays less a possession game ,but rather a dump and crash game. Now he could have a season or two where everything goes right for him and he hits 60,but him becoming the player we needed to become .Just didnt pan out .As for your assessment on what we have coming ,you dont know what will happen .At this point its just being hopeful that they dont pan out

Stone and Hoffman at 26 and 24 have room to grow. Zibanejad at 23 does not. Zibanejad and Pageau. Same age. One has room to grow one does not. Guess which is which. Sens logic.

Funny both have played fewer nhl games than Zib and accomplished far more.Look he isnt a bad player ,but he isnt going to become a front line center. He just doesnt have the skill and vision for it.

Funny you bring up JGP ,him outplaying Zib .Is the most telling reason for why Zib was traded

So where are your superstars??Its not like Torono has done much of anything since they brought in a salary cap 10 years ago.You guys should have multiple cups by now ,with all those high draft picks.......

Who outplayed who is rather irrelevant to the idea of who does, and does not, have room to grow.

I'm pretty sure if you were asked a couple of years ago about each players ceiling, Pageau has probably played to what you would have said his is, and Zibanejad has not, which would imply that Zibanejad probably still has a lot more room to grow than Pageau.

I don't think either are all that great, but I would certainly say Zibanejad probably had more growth to offer than Pageau does at this point.

yes, that's because they were trading picks and prospects for vets on the downside of their careers, with bad contracts, while management told the fans things like "just make the playoffs, and anything can happen", desperately trying to catch a late playoff seed.

Sound familiar?

Meh, I wouldn't be surprised if one or two Leaf fans said something like "that's his ceiling" at point of draft. In context, he was a very high scoring, talented prospect (among the most talented of his draft, with size, work ethic, and two way player questions at the time), and 90 points was also not a point total that would challenge for the Art Ross at the time. It's still probably an exaggeration, but whatever.

I mean, I've seen a lot of prospects with FAR less talent, hyped far more over the years, by Sens fans. I remember one of them writing a prospect summary, and some were so over the top it was hilarious. Brian Lee was a surefire top pairing Dman. I remember this one idiot girl was saying Kaspars Daugavins was a year or two away from 70 point potential. I actually knew one of the members of the coaching staff of the team he was playing for at the time, asked him, and he flat out told me there is no way he'll ever play in the NHL. I told her that, and she adamantly told me that I am wrong (and of course, his own coach was as it really was his information).

Jared cowen was supposed to be the next coming of Zdeno Chara.

It is what it is, it's going to happen all the time. I mean, we may look at Nylander, Marner, and Matthews at top prospects, but it's pretty universally agreed that they are. The caliber of prospect, and opinion on guys like Brown, White, and Chabot, suggest that the chances they are ever top pairing/line guys is not high. Hell, chances are one or two of them never really sticks in the NHL. If they get one impact player out of a prospect of that caliber, they should consider themselves quite lucky.

I mean, you never know, but they just aren't the kind of prospects that turn into core players.

Perhaps waiting until the rebuild is complete would be a better time to ask? It's like asking a home builder who is still laying out a foundation how his roof is coming along. Why should we have multiple cups by now? Easy there sport. You're getting so defensive you're not making much sense. The salary cap and the rebuild have nothing to do with each other.

Unless you count trading first round picks as a rebuild. But you're not dumb enough to suggest that, right?

Yes, that fits the definition of several.
- prock

no, that's the definition of a "few".

"one", then a "couple", then a "few", then "several" and then "many".

Not many teams have a "few" so not knocking your hockey vernacular.

from what I'm hearing about Matthews, your good friend Spatso might have some backpedaling to do visa vie the Calder.

Spatso is what the French call...le idiot

But by pure definition alone , 3 qualifies as several. As does 4. Going strictly by the true definition of several.

Spatso launched a thread called:

Gainey ruined Price!

I'll go all Skalapy on you and say:

'Nuff Said!

To me, Spatso lost all credibility when he launched that thread thinking Price was ruined because he was not elite in his first two years in the League.

He was insistent Halak was and would forever be the best goalie.

Let's not forget that Price played a whopping 12 games in the AHL before being promoted to the NHL. When people complained about Price's early NHL career, Gainey said Price is a thoroughbred and he can only learn at the NHL level.

Who was right? As many (frank) ups Gainey made (Gomez/McDonagh fiasco), on the Price situation, I don't think he could have handled it any better. He had absolutely nothing to learn in the AHL.
