I'm pretty sure none of those guys have been a fan favorite. Do we think it's fun to watch guys play in the NHL that are from Buffalo? Yes. Doesn't mean they're a fan favorite. Kennedy tried playing that card and got himself a one way ticket out of Buffalo and none of the fans here seemed to think the club was out of line. It also looks to have been the right move seeing as how he can't crack a roster anywhere else.

Gerbe has more balls in all 5'4 of him than in five Derek Roys.
- Urethra Franklin

Ahhhhhhhhh?... No.

Gerbe's cheapshot on Lupul was nothing more than a feeble attempt to spark his team out of desparation and failed.

"Balls" had nothing to do with it.

Meh. Lupul's not a tough guy, but he's still significantly bigger than Gerbe. Even if it was a cheap shot, he put himself out there to answer for it later.

I don't think you'll see Derek "No Expectations Anymore, So Hockey Is Fun!" Roy doing that anytime soon.

NO problem with that Hit. We live in Whiney World Today. That's the problem.
As long as Guys making these type of Hits are ready to Answer the Bell after the Hit.
Clean Hits like that (Like it or Not) will prompt a response from the opposing Team.

Good Solid Hit

- BruinBlood

Not everyone is going to be called for that hit though. In most cases, my guess is that the refs are ok with that. Unfortunately for Kaleta, he's played a specific brand of hockey for long enough that refs aren't willing to give him the benefit of the doubt that most others would be given. If there's any gray area, Kaleta is going to come out on the losing end. The Sabres need to cut the guy loose because he's only going to be a liability going forward.

Wasn't a cheapshot. Lupul popped Gerbe, Gerbe popped back.

Do you really think Lupul and Gerbe even care about what happened now? It was a non-event in a hockey game that was over by the time it happened anyways.

there is not a player today who could score like Esposito or Gretzky...... The Canadiens had 4 lines that could score. Sabre Canadien games were always a 7-6 , 6-5 game with endless skating and pure hockey. Fights were not necessarily the key (you brought that up not me). Goalies did not have equipment that made them 8' wide........ So I hope you enjoyed the insults you threw at me... It seems that is all you can do...... Troll back to the Leafs blog please............
- rapperray

Troll?? I never bashed your team......and you brought that up calling all players "panty waists". Keep defelcting.....you're almost as bad as Lindy Ruff at it. You aren't comparing apples to apples either....Gretzky and Esposito wouldn't have stood out as much in todays skilled game. They played with goons and buffoons and were head and shoulders above everyone else in skill. Wouldn't be the case today. The league is passing you by and times have changed

This league has gone to sh*t! Everyone is way to sensitive and every hard hit is deemed a bad hit and the arm goes up.

Putting the cheap stuff aside, the league seems like it is out to eliminate all rough stuff. I hate how they nuetered hard hitting players.

- flyers2001

Kulemin absolutely laid Kaleta out later in the game and there was no call so that kind of ruins your point.

I agree but the problem with him is if someone farts in the corners he falls over. He can be as fesity and have as much heart as he wants but the fact remains he is a midgit compared to most nhl players and this does not help buffalo when faceing playoff caliber teams in any way. Heart and determination only go so far.

Read what Lupul said yesterday. He's clearly still pissed off about it and he flat out said he's going after Gerbe tomorrow. I hope he doesn't do something stupid.

Today is not a skilled game....its a defense first, no room to work, score dirty goals to win game. I have no idea what you're watching. Sure, there are players with plenty of skill, but they way teh game is played they aren't allowed to show it nearly often enough.

Agreed Homer... Back in the day coaches did not hide behind the "trap" because they had a terrible team or they were unable to out coach the opponent. Today that is all we see.... An endless parade of 2-1, 3-2 games....... How very exciting......

Trolling doesn't mean having a different opinion, Ray.

If it gets personal, purely inflammatory, etc. I'll step in. Otherwise, we're all capable of going tit for tat.

Plus honestly it's easier to read this than the circle jerk of misery we've been having for the past month.

That's funny because Gaustad said on the radio after they fought a few years ago, when asked why he took on Neil when Neil was fresh and Goose was at the end of his shift...Goose said because Ive asked him to fight over and over and he always says no, so if it takes fighting him when Im tired and he's fresh, the only way he'll fight me, i couldnt turn him down. Goose or Cody will glady take him on any day w/o any fear.

All coaches do the same thing in practice... walk behind the bench during games and have basically the same philosophy, that is why the NHL is so boring now. A perfect example would be Lindy's first year here when he inherited Ted Nolan's team and did very well with them. Lindy had no experience as head coach yet did very well, because the Sabres had an all-world goaltender on the team. Not because of Lindy. A coaches influence is greatly over rated... just like the players....
- rapperray

Fixed.

Take Hasek away from that team and it's miles worse than this one.

Lupul does talk a lot. If the Leafs second best forward wants to focus on going after a 5'6" (generously) 3rd liner on our team for what was basically a tit for tat play Lupul started, then Gerbe's earned his salary for Friday night already.
