If Kaleta didn't want to be the target of officials and the league he could have taken preventative measures. For instance, not headbutting people would have been a good start.

For the record, I'm not trolling. I really like Buffalo. I just find it hard to buy into Kaleta's "BOO HOO, LOOK AT ME, I'M A VICTIM". He backed up, charged forward and used his helmet as a weapon, and he's done it before too.

I think Buffalo would be better off without him. If his only purpose is to hit hard and have grit, then Buffalo is much better with Kassian on the roster than him, at least Kassian is a GOOD player.

NO problem with that Hit. We live in Whiney World Today. That's the problem.
As long as Guys making these type of Hits are ready to Answer the Bell after the Hit.
Clean Hits like that (Like it or Not) will prompt a response from the opposing Team.

No matter the reason, he has lost his value. Replace him with someone who can score, create scoring opportunities or is more exciting to watch (Kassian).

if kaleta was on any other team he'd be 3rd line AHLer at best

The only person responsible for this is Kaleta himself.

he's made his own bed, with years of dirty hits and dives, so suck it up and live with it. i don't think you'll find anyone outside of buffalo, or very many in buffalo, who have even a shred of sympathy for him

Chris Neil agrees 100% with the above.

My opinion is that the majority of his hits have been hard, legit hits. His MO was to lure others into a penalty. Which was effective. I think the past year or so he has gone to the dirty side. He is trying to survive by diving, cheapshoting and fighting more often.

More or less, except Neil does his job better. Kaleta's always been kind of bad at it, to be honest. Nobody's afraid of that guy. Luckily for you, Kassian looks like he'll be effective in all the ways that Kaleta's never been able to.

It wasn't dirty or suspension worthy.

It wasn't reviewed and he wasn't given a suspension.

He was given a 2-minute penalty for charging. What he did was the DEFINITION of charging.

That should be the end of this story.

This is about Ruff, trying to deflect attention from the real problems with the sabres, and bring his team together in the face of adversity.

Waaaa Waaaa Waaaa, most crying and excused from the Sabres. What a nosedive from respectability to just plain embarrassment.

I'm embarrassed to be a Sabres fan.

As a Leafs fan, naturally I hate Chris Neil.

He does his job though. He gets paid to do exactly what they want him to do.

Kassian doesn't hit. And I am pretty sure Ruff is the one pulling the "boo hoo" stuff with Kaleta; Patty didn't have too much to say about it after practice.

Obviously, I am biased in regard to #36. While I do agree that he has done some dirty stuff in the past, I think for the most part his checks are 100% clean and hard; it's the other antics that have gotten him in trouble.

I'll put my dislike for Kaleta aside... I think Kaleta was done a disservice by the OHL when he was in the league. He used to run around clobbering kids with these massive open ice hits where he not only ran guys from 60 feet or more, he always jumped and led with a forearm/elbow. He used to get away with it constantly, fans suggesting it was simply old time hockey, and to me, that was a period of the O that had this grey zone of what exactly a charge was. No one was getting called and kids like Kaleta and Clutterbuck (at the time) were flat out murdering kids. Now the league is changing how they approach these hits, trying to elminate head shots and whatnot, and kids like Kaleta have to redefine their games.

A target on his back? Ehh, not so much, but he is one of the kids that came into the league with the wrong fundamentals which isn't even his fault. It was allowed and encouraged by coaching staffs.

Kaleta is a known big time hitter because he has a knack for timing those hits, he doesn't need to finish high or leap into guys, which is what is being called on everyone, not just him.

If I am not mistaken I believe that Kaleta's penalty was because of a hit on Grabovski not Kulemin.

Every time I see him fly into the boards and make a big hit, they are ineffective. The puck continues right in to our zone and half the time ends up in the net.

Now when he got blasted the other night, that was it, lights out. Game was over.

Kaleta is garbage.... Tropp or Kass should be in his spot... Both have more offensive skill..
