The sabres where a tough team that nobody screwed with ,when they had guys like ray ,barnaby, may etc .They need to get back to that type of team because the look too much like montreal good speed and skill ,but no real physicality Kassian seems to be a start ,but more is needed

Lupul does talk a lot. If the Leafs second best forward wants to focus on going after a 5'6" (generously) 3rd liner on our team for what was basically a tit for tat play Lupul started, then Gerbe's earned his salary for Friday night already.

It'd be a really foolish thing for Lupul to concentrate on anything but putting pucks in the net and back-checking.

I agree. I would hope he can get past it before tomorrow and just let it go. It doesn't do the Leafs any good for Lupul to take a stupid penalty or get kicked out of the game/suspended.

No argument there.

But mostly, they need considerably more determination and heart in their top-6.

Plus, what exactly does he think he's getting revenge for?

Eh, it'll be so much sound and fury...

It's just athletes talking trash. Lupul wont do anything, we all know he'd rather skate down the ice looking for a pass, than skate up the ice looking for Gerbe.

Here's what he said in a Mike Brophy article for Sportsnet for anyone who's interested:

"He said something when I was going to the bench and I turned around and he popped me," Lupul said. "Whatever. He had 58 other minutes to play hard all game and he didn’t. It’s the thing that makes me laugh when a guy doesn’t show up for the game and then with two minutes left he tries to make something happen. Maybe I’ll find him on Friday. I popped him back a little bit, but not as bad as I will in the future."

To put it one way, he's got a pretty unique view of what happened.

Fixed.

Take Hasek away from that team and it's miles worse than this one.

- buffalofan19

But Buff... Hasek was inherited by Ruff... Thus he inherited the talent that made him look good...

I'm not sure where I heard it (I thought it was on the team 1200 with Ferraro but I might be wrong) but someone mentioned a "rumour" of Miller to Anaheim for Getzlaf in a multi-asset deal.
Toot anyone's horn?

Honk.

We'd need another goalie, but I'm ready to try a different model than building from the net out.

That's a really stupid thing to say. Suppose Lupul hits accidentally hits Gerbe from behind on Friday. Now what? You spouted off to the media that you're out to get him and it's all of a sudden premeditated. Just shut your mouth and play the game.

To be honest.... Right now a trade of ANY type would be welcome news for us. It would at least let us know that the Sabres front office has a pulse......

Personally, I blame ESPN, Twitter, and Charles Barkley.

100% to the bolded.

BTW- UF, seems like it went a while between convos for us, I've been glad to see you around the past few days.

Kaleta like Cooke has formed a reputation. One that is well deserved and one that will not ever give said players the benefit of the doubt. It is to the point with Cooke where he has taken multiple head shots which at the very least should have resulted in a Penguins PP this year and thus was not the case. Cooke has even limited himself to 14 PIM's this year.

However, both players made their bed, now they must sleep in it.

I would imagine Ellis would be headed back to Buffalo as part of the "multiple assets". I'm of the opinion that Hiller will never be the same and i'm worried for him long term. I don't know though, trading away goalies is scary, but Getzlaf would be a center that would change everything in Buffalo and in particular sliding Roy to the 2 spot, where he'd likely thrive.

I view the Sabres model as building from the winger position first, that is more of the problem. Well, that and the 6.25M man grossly under performing.

Lupul should be focusing on helping his team maintain a playoff spot, not punching a midget.

The Kaleta thing has been beat to death... The reality is that the Sabres should be putting their best players on the ice and IMO There are better players than Kaleta in Rochester who should be playing......
