Would they really take on his salary? I'd love to see them do it, but then a goaltender would have to come the other way, and they don't have anyone that doesn't eat up too much salary that would fit his and Getzlaf's salary under the cap.

Getzlaf isn't on the block. There's no way Anaheim's dumb enough to let go a #1 center, especially mid-season, unless it's for someone's first-born child.

pretty sure he didn't like that...maybe getz and ryan were targeted as the main reasons for that decision...

I don't know if they'd do the trade (I wouldn't if I were them) but they have $6.5m in room, they could afford to take on another player in exchange for a pick in that deal to make the cap work.

Really, i think there's about a 5% chance Getz gets moved. If he does, we better outbid everyone else for his services. No one on this roster I wouldn't move for him, save Vanek. And only because having Vanek is a big reason why I would want Getz.

If you are looking to trade a guy like Getzlaf, you are admitting to a rebuild. They'd be looking to dump salary, not take it on, if that were the case.

yup, good point...but, for me, myers and mcnasty (snicker, snicker) would be added to the list...

the sabres are gonna need what they bring no matter what the nhl is like in the future...they have no one like those two in the system

Agreed although I would argue that Sabretooth is more of a B than A+. If it's Lindy's job to get the players ready for the game it's Sabretooths job to get the Fans ready for the game. The place is a morgue. He has been hindered by the poor play of the team and thats why he hasn't slid down to the C territory.


And yes I did just right a para. on the mascot. Only thing positive these days.

I won't claim to know what's going on in Anaheim, but they could take on short-term salary (Boyes, Hecht) along with picks and prospects and not affect their rebuild at all.

Getzlaf is exactly what the team needs period. The sabres need to drop alot of its dead over payed non emotional non goal scoring weight to other teams period.

Even if the Sabres did land Getzlaf - which they won't - Lindy would most likely try him with 16 different line combinations then wind up having him center Gerbe and Kaleta.
