include Gaustad extended at $4M over 3 years and I'd take a look

If Roy is this much of a partier and a drunk in Buffalo, he would die in Montreal before ever hitting the ice...

How about picks, etc. since I think they're still clinging to the idea this season can be saved. I agree that Pleks is better than Roy, but Roy and a decent draft pick would even it out.

I don't know what the Sabres expect to get in return for Roy but with the way he and his team are playing I wouldn't expect a great return. Just my opinion no need to crucify me.

Meh.
Plek is our best defensive forward. No reason to give that up for a smaller center who wont put up any more points unless the picks are really good and we then flip roy somewhere else. He is the key to the Anaheim deal you know.

Give Jeremy White credit had it rite.
If 8-10 teams are looking for a top 6 forward.
Play them against each other.
We know all roys wartsbut besides this year he has been productive
Stafford 30 goal scorer he had 3-4 hattricks last year there is upside
Hecht is a great rental.
GMS make look at the sabres as a team train wreck but the parts could be salvaged.

What Sabres fan in their right mind wants a lateral move for a guy that happens to be making $5M per for an ADDITIONAL 3 seasons beyond ROy's contract?

That makes zero sense.

but Plekanic plays for Montreal which in itself makes him a superior hockey player

these Montreal fans are a joke Roy for Plekanic would be a good hockey deal for both teams Roy would be right back to his 70 + points with Montreal and we would have the additional salary

it's no secret Montreal is tearing it down, they are buying out Goat mez after the season, Roy is a shorter committment financially and that itself seals the deal for Montreal

Pleakanec would be a great addition, if you're looking to increase the player-to-turtleneck ratio.

You say that it's Plekanec or bust to get this deal done, then you spend the rest of the blog trashing Roy and finish off by saying that Plekanec would be a great fit with the team. Right there you're contradicting yourself in a way because you're saying Plekanec would be better for the team, yet you want to give a player who has less of an impact.

Plekanec has more value than Roy and it seems like you already know it, except you feel that you have to "win" this trade.

To even this trade out, Buffalo needs to add something, and it would have to be something significant.

The significant part is that Montreal would be saving cap space. Roy is a good hockey player, but he needs a change of scenery. There's too much of the same thing on this team right now. Roy plays on the PK, PP and has a very nice cap hit of 4m considering his output in every other season of his career.

We don't need cap space and downgrading your top 2-way forward to a another 2nd line center to save $1M is retarded

Roy is just as good defensively as Pleks. To me, it really looks like an even swap. Or, if you read the post that's up a few, you'll see Roy's actually had a better career.

offensively yea he has. I said from my first post that Roy has better offensive ability.

Plek>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Roy in 2-way play.

and if it were such an even swap, every sabres fan wouldnt be loving the idea and every hab fan wouldnt think it was retarded.
