Typical of the lazy media to make the Flyers issues all about goaltending.
In the same way the media has a template for everything else they report on the same is true of sports media.
Sad but true.

What about Toronto and Philadelphia making a trade, having B. Schenn and Couturier going to Toronto, and Phaneuf + going back the other way..? (Phaneuf + Kulemin?)

I think Couturier is close to or as untouchable as Giroux at the moment. |

no research is done...it's all pot luck...
it some ways they were able to get away with it a few years ago but more and more people are critical (and they should be) of them because of the internet.
I liked when Carchidi tweeted that Sutter was drafted. It was Suter... |

Clean, simple, and sound analysis of the Flyers goaltending through the first "half". Nicely done.
As an aside, do they not do the "Rookie Game" at the ASG anymore? |

No.
Cooter is untouchable. (I hope Holmer thinks this way)
Plus the salaries wouldn't match up.

It is nice to have the ability to find sites, like HockeyBuzz, with Blobbers, like Bill, that can give you more then the standard template of babble about the team you follow. |

It is sad. Why learn about the rest of the game when you have an easy story in the goaltending whenever you need it?
It's all about goals for and goals against, not lax play by the forwards in their own zone, or any of the other nuance plays that happen up and down the ice.
We're very lucky that Bill actually knows the game.

Not that it really matters because its the All Star Game, but I found it interesting that Kimmo was chosen ahead of both Weber and Suter last night. |

Seems to have been in the works for a while...
@euroflyers: Timonen knew he was going to get picked early in ASG draft. Chara told him during last PHI vs BOS game.

The connection of Lupul and Timonen having been teammates.

Not sure what you sprinkled on your wheaties but that isn't going to happen.
Wishful thinking maybe. I would advocate firing PH if that were to happen. |

Much of the draft was contrived, but that was to be expected at an ASG. The captains just so happened to end up with all their current teammates, all of their participating countrymen and a couple friends from other teams that they or their assistant captains wanted to take on their side.

bill,
considering that even in his good performances, most have included a soft goal, I would agree w/ the assessment that bryz has provided sub par goaltending overall. |

last year it seemed like a true draft...this year it appears they were working off a script. Either way...other then the Philly Fans booing all the time, it was a decent show. |

Nice try, keep dreaming. These are the two key pieces that came to Philly w/ the departure of Richards and Carter. That said with no disrespect to Voracek or Simmons. |

It's also cap suicide. Two guys on EL deals for two guys at a combined $8.75mm, one of whom is a RFA and likely to get a raise next year.
That doesn't even get into the whole trading gold for tarnished brass angle. |
