Pekka: Not quite an all-star, but a shoe-in Venezia finalist!
What a freaking show last night! He keeps it up the next 7 years, his contract will be the steal of the century!
And if these fans aren't good enough for you, Suter? screw you. |

As a Flames Fan, I'd gladly watch Pekka win games and see this team all year round. Most underrated franchise right now. |

Rinne's glove save was one of the best Ive seen in a long time.
Even though Detroit lost eventually last night when they were down by 2 in the 3rd you just knew they were going to come back. This team is going to be a tough out in the playoffs.
Off-topic: Very sad news about the passing of David Hall. You can check the story out on lightning 100's site. I have listened to him forever and seeing him at 3rd and Lindsley on many a Sunday night concert. RIP. |

Great game and crowd. The building was electric all night. Preds could have easily gone up 4-0 or 5-0 in the 2nd period. They DOMINATED and Halak kept the Blues in it. Also good to see McGratton completely destroy the guy he fought. Keep it up Preds. |

Don't think Suter questions the fans..It's management he questions. |

With all due respect..
I doubt Nashville is a sought after destination for any young hockey players. He probably wants to move on to the bright lights of an LA, Philly, NY, etc..
He may hint at management being a concern, but it seems like bullsh!t, at least to me it is.. |

McGrattan possibly the best the Preds have had in the enforcer role. He fights fast and hard, seems to enjoy his role, likes his teammates and he can also skate and play the game, so the roster spot does not seem wasted. He's been a good fit so far. |

No offense, but that has absolutely zero relevance and is, in fact, opposite of what many NHL players actually think and say about Nashville and other great cities far south of the border. That negative destination view might fit an Avery but for others it is beyond archaic and shows little to no knowledge of the South.
And as far as Suter is concerned, bright lights and big cities are a very long way from his want list. He loves being in the country and he loves farming, fishing, hunting and his family, not necessarily in that order. He is also a huge country music fan and appreciates the fact that he and his family can live a more normal life here out of the constant spotlight. Suter fits perfectly here and is probably wary of many of the bigger cities for other reasons which shall go unmentioned.
He does want to win, however which the Preds are certainly doing. Why he's hesitant to re-sign is an enigma. |

Probably waiting to see what his buddy Zach wants to do. Anyone else sensing a possible Kariya/Selanne to Colorado scenario there? |

Well, he may not want to live in Nashville, but he definately doesn't want to play for Toronto. As for LA, Philly, or NY...They all have as many Stanley Cups as Nashville has since the Predators came into the league.
And Lastly, with regards to Suter, he is definately not a big city boy, so neither of those teams would be on his preferred list. |

Detroit will do well in the playoffs if they institute the shootout for playoff OT.
4 regulation wins in the last 15 games. The shootout is working for them lately though. If you want to count OT wins they are at 6 in the last 15. I can't remember seeing so many shootouts in one season. |

I'm sorry... but I've been reading this stuff about Suter, and last summer, Weber, ad infinitum... and I just have to input my opinion. These guys are coached on what to say, ESPECIALLY during contract talks. Poile's words are guarded, also, so I really don't believe any of it, and will just wait to see how it shakes out. Everyone's giving Suter down-the-road, and while it may turn out the way you are thinking, it could turn out completely opposite. I don't know if we'll ever know the inside story until after they retire and maybe write an auto-biography.
EDIT: In addition, these young men have worked all their life to be in the position they are in. Anyone in their career who is faced with an opportunity to change directions, especially when they're at the top of their game, would be a fool not to look at all opportunities at the current time and decide on the best direction for them. What he is doing is determining his best career path. They have a limited number of years in their career, like most of us, though our's are much greater. Give the guy a break. I wish him the best in whatever direction he goes. He's a great player, and a good person (so it seems). |

True, but most people aren't holding their current company hostage, and possibly doing that company irreparable harm in order to get what they want out of it. Most people give notice to the company that they intend to leave and allow that company time to get a replacement for their position.

One can hope, but if that were the case then wouldn't Ryan just sign and wait for Zach to do the same over the summer? |

There are plenty of people who use job offers at a different company to get a raise or more perks at their current job. Just depends on how bad the company wants to keep that employee. |

True, but Weber and Suter are asking the Preds to bring in somebody, and the few somebodies available won't want to sign here unless they know our two have re-signed. To me, it is as much the responsiblity for these two to help in recruiting that top 3 forward. David Poile has always been upfront about budget constraints, and he now says that the ownership is willing to move towards the cap.
We have an unfair label of being a cheap franchise. Yes, we have tried to spend wisely. However, the big dollar players that have left Nashville were let go for a reason. Recently, it was to make space for players that were ready to move up from Milwaukee, or were not worthy of stupid money another franchise was willing to pay them. When Timmonen, Harnell, Vokoun, Forsberg, and Kariya are brought up, that was purely on the shoulders of an owner who did not know how to run our franchise and cut the budget to the minimum on his way out. If not for Leipold, we probably would have kept all of them except Forsberg. They wanted to stay, but Leipold was intent on moving to the Wild and showing that he could screw up a franchise in the most die-hard hockey market. |
