Well a guy like Seguin is probably a big reason for that. - Gunner Staal
part of the reason, but not a big reason.
having 3 scoring lines and a checking line + size and solid D/goaltending has a lot more to do with it than Seguin being an all star. |

There's a lot less pressure on him there because he's not the focal point of the team. If he were to be on a team that was performing poorly, I would bet that his stats wouldn't look the same as they do in Boston right now. |

I am a die hard Sabres fan, from the day this team was born and will defend this team when they need it and be critical when called for. Yesterday was one game in a season and yes it did give me some relief from the pain that was the month of January. But it was one game! I enjoyed beating the Bruins and loved watching Kaleta get under the skin of Chara and Lucic, reminded me of Ken Linseman the original "rat". But the reality is that even though we won, weaknesses were once again exposed. This team is still not big enough up front, to be successful over a long playoff run. The grind and physical play of a seven game series, will start to take its toll on the likes of Ennis, Roy, Gerbe and even Kaleta. Games like last night, played every other day, will wear down the current group both physically and mentally. We are still weak up the middle both talent wise and physically. The playoffs tend to be a close checking, hard hitting, in tight goals environment and I don't think the current team, can win in those situations. Although we have improved over the recent stretch, we are far from being consistent, which a Cup Champion needs. I will enjoy last night for what it is, one big, feel good win. |

dude...there was a time when your posts were solid...
lately, though, you're posts have been coming off as snide and ostentatious...
the penguins won the cup...fine...i'll give them the same respect that i do philly...and carolina...and boston...and anaheim
what i can't stand, though, is a pompous attitude towards a team and their fans who've yet to have that satisfaction

Oh please. I havent changed anything. Your perception of them might have changed given how bad of a season the Sabres are having.
You know why I bring the Penguins up? Because sometimes I can draw parallels to a point I am making and that just so happens to be the team I am most in tune with. This is so I can speak from a position of knowledge.
If you want I can make examples using the Panthers but I'm not going to lie, I don't follow them and the info wouldnt be as pertinent or accurate. |

keep in mind, pittsburgh was going to fold as a franchise and they were GIFTED a few all star players in a row perhaps thats why the karma is coming back with injuries.

well good.. I am not the only one that doesn't understand this guy who has himself and the Penguins on such a high perch that he thinks he is an analyst that can cast down his opinion on everyone else. The Penguins won the cup.. not you.. so stop thinking you were part of the mastermind behind it and that you know the innerworkings of the NHL..

What throne? My team is in 6th and hasn't had their lineup since before October of 2010. We aren't lighting the league up. |

Pitt isn't perfect man... every C/W is a free agent after next year... not one person is under contract.. almost all of those players are gonna feel entitled to a raise.. And Crosby is in a world of trouble much like Peyton Manning so they might let him go to a new team because of the risk..
Paul Martin, Michalek, and Fleury are the only guys who will remain.. and they are all overpaid.. |

Reallly... and the Sabres have had their whole line-up together??
Sabres have the most games lost by any NHL team this year.. And we don't have a player like Malkin to hang our hat on to keep us in the race.
With all of the games that the Sabres have lost due to injury I'm actually half way satisfied with where we are at currently and the teams in front of us
You say that injuries are not an excuse and that good teams find a way to win.. |

I'm sure Pittsburgh is going to be just fine. They have some solid talent and I'm sure their GM will resign some of the guys, trade others, and let some just walk. That's generally what happens on teams. They have a pretty solid GM, so I'm sure Pittsburgh will still be competitive. |

Sports are cyclical, there will come a time when the Penguins will be down again. The thing not to do is wallow in mediocrity like the Bills and Sabres do. |
