The Miller brothers made an impact at both ends of the ice on Wednesday.
From NHL.com:
In Detroit, forwards Drew Miller scored the go-ahead goal midway through the third period as the Red Wings beat the Edmonton Oilers 4-2 for their 18th consecutive victory at Joe Louis Arena. That game ended a few minutes before big brother Ryan completed his second shutout in three games by stopping 36 shots in the Buffalo Sabres' 6-0 victory against the Boston Bruins.
It's the first time since Oct. 10, 1973, that brothers accounted for a winning goal and a shutout on the same night.
Phil Esposito completed a hat trick with the go-ahead goal for Boston in a 6-4 season-opening victory for the Bruins at Vancouver. Down the West Coast in Los Angeles, brother Tony Esposito stopped all 25 shots he faced as the Chicago Blackhawks beat the Los Angeles Kings 3-0.

From Ty Anderson's Bruins Blog:
(We now interrupt this blog for a Kaleta rant...)
Teams have instigators. Fans love instigators. The Bruins are no exception, especially when you look at Boston's love affair with Brad Marchand, but at the end of the day, Kaleta is by miles the biggest stooge when it comes to finding those pesky 'rats' of the league.
After getting his behind beat by Milan Lucic, Kaleta (bloody nose and all) pumped the crowd at First Niagara Center up. OK. I understand the sentiment behind such a gesture, Kaleta showing more heart than any of his teammates did after Lucic barreled over Miller back in Nov., but Kaleta did it once again after a pathetic turtle when faced off with McQuaid.
A sad display if there ever was one, Kaleta wanted nothing to do when faced off in a one-on-one situation with the 6-foot-4 Boston defensemen. This, of course in typical Kaleta fashion, was until teammate Mike Weber jumped into the fray. Then he really wanted to let McQuaid have it! But when Andrew Ference came in to pull Weber out of the picture, Kaleta went back to his role as Yertle the Turtle...until the referee was between him and McQuaid.
Then Kaleta, the toughest man in the world, returned to form. And he pumped the crowd up once again! Now, once again, I get it: You're a hockey player whose job is to generate energy, from your bench or from the crowd.
But how can one be satisfied with such an act of cowardice to the point where they want to be applauded? No, strike that, they want a standing ovation!
(Okay, back to your regularly scheduled program...)
Sorry Ty if we ruffled your feathers. - DixonWard
Getting his behind beat?
I've watched that video a few times now and it's pretty damn apparent that Lucic glanced just about every punch off PK's helmet or visor.
On the other hand, Lucic took some shots right square to his facia brute-
As far as PK "turtling"? What are you supposed to do when your opponent is standing over you, holding your head down and you are on your knees (on ice no less)?
Look him in the eye so it can get blackened?
Just about any MMA fighter would do the same, and they don't wear skates.
If there was a punk in this entire fray, it was Lucic for his whack on a guy that was down...with his stick.
Hats off to Goose for going after two Bruins and damn near putting one into the bench-

Kaleta definitely turtled up before he went to the ice, but the guy already fought Lucic. What is he supposed to fight all Boston's big guys just because they are agitated by him? Eff those guys.

Turtled?
They were wrestling until they went down.
How is that turtling?
PK took his legs out then McQuaid had the neck of his jersey holding him down. It's not like they were on a rubber mat and PK could get some solid footing.
Good (frank)in job boys! Man that was fun to watch........nice way to redeem yourselves.........good to see the Bruins get destroyed like that (on the scoreboard).....PROPS are in order...
It was stellar by Gerbe, all Staff did was tap it home. Nathan had the patience and the presence of mind to pull that puck wide and feed his linemate instead of just trying to score from a tough angle over a sprawling Thomas.
Still...great goal, great game.
Milbury and Macguire were in rare form yesterday, both had me wanting to blow my head off with a shotgun during the broadcast.

excellent job of female dog slapping those (frank)in retards from Boston.
I was hoping someone ran Thomas and broke his leg. Would have made the night complete. But I guess a 6-0 whooping and Kaleta trolling them will suffice. - Meganuck

Stevie Wonder could have tapped that one home...

The turtle comment about Kaleta came from me, i've always said it. If anyone looks back at last night's blog I gave props to Kaleta 3 times or more about his game last night, give credit when it's due. I think that was the most complete game as a team I have seen them play in a long time, even more special that Miller got the SO against the Bruins. That's the best way to pay them back.
