Kind of defeats the purpose.

I'd send them Stafford though.

Stafford and Brennan or Pysyk
- dadeadhead

honest question.. do you think Brennan has a whole lot of value in a trade? He is 22 or 23 years old, is finishing his third AHL season and has not shown that he will be nothing more than a 5/6 guy, maybe. I think if i had the choice i would pick pysyk every time.

Interesting thought about Rochester:

I went to Saturday's game in Cleveland against the Lake Erie Monsters. McNabb looked exactly like we would think he should. He rips shots repeatedly from the blueline during the PP and was very solid defensively. He also had a few good hits and fought during the game.

The guy that really stood out to me though was Crawford. Nobody ever talks about him but he seems to have a pretty solid defensive game. He's very much no frills and I don't see any type of offensive play from him really, but he made a lot of really good solid defensive plays. He's the type of defenseman that after a game you say "Did Crawford even play tonight?" To me, that's a good thing. When you're a defensemen and you manage to get through a game without really being noticed at all, you did your job for the night.

If they aren't an overly physical defenseman and they do a great job on gap control they won't be as noticeable even if they are doing a good job.

As a defensemen, if you're not noticed, you're doing your job. Defensemen usually get noticed because they're doing things they shouldn't. He plays a quiet and effective game. To me, that's the most important aspect of a D man. If you can get one or two that are able to chip in offensively, great. But that's not their main purpose.

they did absolutely nothing to get noticed.. if all you are is a solid defensive Dman with no big hitting that is a good thing. It means no one embarassed you to make you get noticed.

Thank you for saying it better than I apparently did.

He's very no frills at all. He didn't lay out any big hits, but he did a great job behind the net taking the puck away. He was also good at clearing out the front of the net as well, and had good passes to get the puck out of the zone.

The only reason I paid any attention to him was because we've seen so many of the other guys up here in Buffalo at some point this season. So I kept an eye on him to see what he was all about because we've gotten no indication as to how he's developing yet.

If I'm not mistaken, Gagner is a 1st round pick.

I'm too lazy to look it up though.

If you're not on the ice for a goal against, and you're breaking up plays due to your gap control, youre pretty noticeable.

As a current coach of a team, i take pride in noticing the little things when watching an NHL game.
