most of the PIMS are completely unnecessary or lazy plays too..

I love Vanek, but must be close to setting a Sabres season record for tripping minors.

46PIM is nothing. I don't even think he's in the top 100 for PIM. Getzlaf has more. I guess we don't want that guy, he must be lazy. Hartnell has 54 points and 100 min....not on my team! Pfffft,
- Full Throttle

My guess would be that Hartnell and Getzlaf have more roughing minors than Vanek. They don't take poop from anyone. Usually those penalties go against both teams, so they're not detrimental to the rest of team usually.

You've made a good point. The number of PIMs aren't the most important, it's the reason they got the PIM in the first place.

Probobly not. Maybe we should get rid of the most productive player in the past 7 years, becasue he takes stupid penaties once in awhile. Unreal.

Yea... my patience with Vanek ran out. Too many stupid penalties.. too many disappearing acts... to much complaining.. to many injuries at the times we need him most.

Reason #1 why I love NHL 12:

I traded Vanek and Morrisson to Columbus for Rick Nash STRAIGHT UP!

I love it... best deal I've ever made in my life on that game.

2 games with Pommer - Roy - Nash

Nash has 4G 3A...

Nash at 7.8>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Vanek at 7.1

What in the world would we want from WSH??? I hope not Semin.

WSH does however have 3 of the top 5 scoring players in the AHL in Hershey. One is 33 year old Keith Aucoin though.

Right, you ran out of patience with the Sabres best player because he has the same productin as Vincent Lacavalier, who also has the same number of points PIMS. Vanek who also doesn't have a steady #1 center feeding him the puck. Get a reality check.

FYI video games aren't real. Noone cares that you made an unrealistic trade in it.

I'm pretty sure the clear cut perspective on Lecavalier in the NHL now is that he is on the down side of his career and that he has already peeked. So to compare Vanek to Lecavalier might actually help my argument.

Nash has better numbers than Vanek does and Nash has had a 1000x worse team around him than has had Vanek in his career.

Imagine Nash's numbers if he would be with the same team/environment that Vanek was.

A straight up trade would be Vanek for Nash. Throwing in Morrisonn removes it from the "straight up" category.

Plus, Nash is RW and so is Pommer. Pommer cannot play on the left side. It's been said several times. And frankly, he's playing just fine there, so I'm not about to tinker with the 1 guy who's produced for us all season to bring in a guy that makes more than he does and has his team more in the basement than ours is.

I have no idea but Wash does need another center. Centers are worth a lot now, but I have no idea how accurate/connected he is. He does have 5000+ following him, one is agent Allan Walsh. I think he's from Montreal and nailed the Cammalleri deal but who knows how accurate this is.

ok
Nash
9 seasons - 528 points 278 G and 250 A he is a -75 with 528 PIM
Average Season = 31 G, 28 A, a minus player 59 PIMs
2- 40 Goal Seasons

Vanek
7 Seasons - 431 points 225 Goals and 206 A. He is a +38 and 332 PIMs
Average Season = 32 G and 32 A. A plus player, 47 PIMs
2-40 goal seasons

Nash: 651GP 278G 250A 528 PTS -75 558 PIMS .81 pts per game

Vanek: 525GP 225G 206A 431 PTS 38 332 PIMS .82 pts per game

They look pretty identical to me. Actually, Vanek has produced more. Not buy much, but the numbers don't lie.

Well WSH does need a center, They have Johannson as their top Center right now because Backstrom could be hurt for the entire season.

But they still have Laich on the 2nd and Halpern on the 3rd lines.

I really don't want to see Roy in WSH. Although he bad attitude could fit right in.

Nash has the same type of numbers even though he has had the likes of Vermette, Brassard, and Umberger at Center..

and guys like Huselies, Williams, Voracek, Modin, Chimera, and Zherdev there to help take pressure off of him on his line.

yea.. totally the same as Buffalo.

Nice analisys. I think Sabres fans are just dying for a change, any change just for the sake. I think the only difference with Nash is we would have a guy who gets more press than Vanek.

Nash is a more complete player than Vanek, anyone will tell you that.

02-03: 15th in the west
03-04: 14th in the west
05-06: 14th in the west
06-07: 11th in the west
07-08: 13th in the west
08-09: 7th in the west - Nash best season of his career, 40 G 79 P +11, coincidentally they made the playoffs for the first time that season
09-10: 14th in the west
10-11: 13th in the west
11-12: worst team in league

Vanek has played on much better teams than Nash. Talk about a player that would excel with a #1 center, its Nash.

Listen, you can try and spin it any way you want, they're practically identical.

Who exactly did Vanek have playing as his center last year? Don't say Roy, because he missed most of the season, and when he was healthy, Vanek was struggling.

I'm not saying Nash isn't a good player, I'm simply stating that if you think he would be any better here than he is in Columbus, you're wrong.
