First...
Great game by the Preds last night...kinda sloppy in parts but interestingly enough, those lead to the shortie and the Legwand goal so all is forgiven.
Hal Gill is a Gold-colored Yeti. Love watching him knock Kesler off the puck all game.

What I like about Hal Gill is he knows what his role is on whatever team he plays. He keeps it simple in the offensive zone. And his 12 foot reach led to the Fish SK74 SHG/GWG.
I think something that went unnoticed was Legwand's goal. To get solid wood on a one-timer 'against grain' is a difficult shot.
Fish is in a groove. Keep it up.

I wish that Weber could have gotten loose against Burrows. It would have been fun to watch that 230lb bearman destroy the Biter. |

Weber, unlike yourself, is a classy person. He wouldn't pound on someone 40+ pounds lighter than himself. He took Burrows to the ice to end it.
BTW, Burrows was exonerated in the alleged biting incident. Get your nicknames more relevant and meaningful. |

Smith is gonna wind up in Trotz's dog house after all the soft defensive zone turnovers last night. He'll probably stick him down on the fourth line for a while and cut his minutes in half. The kid's got a world of talent, and he can be a top-6 forward in the next couple of years - on any team. But the Preds model is to play a defensively responsible, yet high-energy game.
The one I don't get is Smithson. He is completely invisible on the ice - unless he's drawing a penalty. They have to upgrade that roster spot, don't they?
The only value he has on the trade market is for a team looking for a face-off specialist who could give you a couple shifts on the PK. Alas, it seems DP only has picks & prospects to play with. I figure Blum, Mueller, a 3rd round pick are the primary assets he has. Not gonna get that splashy forward to convince Suter to hang around with those assets.

... Biter, hair puller, diver extrodinaire and all around B***H!
It's just a question of time before Burrows pisses off the wrong guy and won't be able to hide behind a ref. Personally, I can't wait for that day. |

Legwand was struggling last night. He scored by sneaking behind Vancouver on a line change. The goal was the only thing that saved him from being called out by BT. Fisher looked strong and Leggy got Fish sick.
Wilson looked like the best player on the ice last night. DP needs find a stronger center to get Spaling off that line. Tootoo with 2 right hands doesn't help either!
Loved watching Gill push Kesler around!!! Good pick up by DP. |

If I'm not mistaken, I believe there is a 1st round pick that Poile could use.

Ah Man, dont let facts get in the way of a good hate.
Neither team was in top form last night. Both goalies played well. couple of those tripping calls were highly suspect. Beer was stale. Other than that a great ngith @ the Bridge. Now.......
DP you did good on the d-man. now lets see what you can do fro that mystical top-6 offensive people. |

Always tough to make big assumptions based on one game, especially as the Canucks were playing their 3rd game in 4 nights. Hal Gill seems like a great pick up though. Only question is how much of a factor will his skating be in the playoffs. |

You are right. I just don't see Poile being willing to part with a 1st, unless he were to get a high-value player with a couple years or more on a contract. He loves to build from within - so giving up high draft picks like that would be tough & from what I've heard, this year is gonna be a deep draft. So the Preds could get a good prospect even with a 20+ pick.
But yes - he does that have chip availabe. I just don't figure he's actually willing to use it. |

BT said after the game last night that both Fish and Leggy were strong all game last night. Personally thought Leggy was okay. Wilson, especially in the last half of the game, was ridiculous, going north and south with speed and getting the puck deep! Too many lazy lateral passes by many trying to exit the zone could have been bad news in the third. |

This guy's filled with so much hate for the Canucks, it's actually kind of funny.
Good game Preds fans, this team seems more dangerous than ever before. I like your scoring balance and it seems like you've really solved your defensive woes from early this season. Gill was a great addition, I was hoping the Canucks would acquire him for our third pairing. He was a rock last night, especially impressive since I believe that was only his second game as a Pred. He's also even more effective on the playoffs and we had a hard enough time with your defense last year. Nashville is a legit contender to at least get to the WCF this year IMO. |

Read this from the nucks blogger, and it made me smile:
Last night the entire city of Vancouver got a wakeup call. Anyone who thought that these were the Preds of past seasons is wrong. These guys still play the same structure and system, but now they are aggressive and play with speed.
Vancouver, a team that is built on speed looked like they were standing still for most of the night. Nashville played bigger than Vancouver. Nashville played faster than Vancouver. And most importantly, Nashville played with more desire than Vancouver.

And make no mistake about it...Once they were engaged, burrows grabbed Weber and pulled him down to the ice on top of him...before Webs could go all "Andreas Lilja" on him. |
