The other two goals were a direct result of the first. It opened the flood gates. Thye said at the first intermission the key with Dallas is stay patient. Because once you make ONE mistake thats when they pounce.

- mvp0207

Wish we could do that...pounce on enemy mistakes. But then again...our PP is the enemy.

That's what the Stars do. No surprise there.

Indeed...I'm not sure they even get a lucky PP goal the rest of the year.

So they go on the road for 5 of the next 6. Unfortunately, I only see 1 or 2 points in the next 6. Perhaps they take Toronto, but I doubt it.

The winning streak was a fluke I'm afraid...

Back to trade speculation, much more fun. Hamrlick will be available from Washington with one more year at 3.5M. Guys on the Florida blog are saying that Garrison could be available as a rental. He's a UFA next year.

The Hawks always suck against Dallas. Let's see what they look like the next couple of games.

Fun...yes, I would agree with that. Hamrlick is a bit long in the tooth isn't he? And Garrison has been hurt of late, on the IR.

Just looked it up...Roman will be 38 in April. Another OD?

Just looked it up...

Jason Garrison hurt his ankle on 2/11. Still out, but expected back shortly. Not a serious injury.

I'd luv to get the guy, but he's huge for FLA so can't imagine them trading him. And as is rather obvious by now, SB will not overpay for anyone regardless of talent. Heck, he won't even bid for the talent the Hawks obviously need.

Sure hope our beloved prospects all work out, since apparently they're too valuable to be used to acquire actual proven NHL talent. Or perhaps, no other clubs think much of them....who knows.

Normally I would agree with waiting a couple of games but we don't have that luxury. We also don't have a clear status on JT. Does he or doesnt he have a concussion? If he does and it's not something he will not comeback from soon than its time we think about selling. I don't want JT rushing back and getting worse for it. Second we need evaluate who on this ship needs to get thrown overboard. I start with Q because there is absolutely no reason the guys come out every game flat or have flat periods. None! He is the motivator and he is not motivating.

Next Kane. Is he going to be committed to this team or not? If so, then he needs to man up stop the stupid parties and get back to playing hockey. Otherwise he needs to go. Get a substantial return now while he is still relevant.

Address the defense by adding strong and evil guys who make other players think twice about coming into our zone.

Not sure we need to go EVIL on anyone, but I get your point. And it's nice to see someone else that thinks being at least a modest SELLER is perhaps the best route at this point.

Still stewing 10 dam minutes 10 minutes left and the streak goes to five. Played the perfect game for 50 minutes. Arrrrghhhh thats an annoying loss. Simply a momentary lack of focus and bam the wall cam crumbling down.

Anyway about the carter thing it seemed like most here should be happy as most didnt want him. I think its funny hes reunited with his partner in crime Mike Richards. I just dont see how LA continues to struggle the team now has a lot of different nice pieces. M Richards, Brown, Kopitar Carter Doughty.

Well back to the depth defensemen and gritty winger story.

Well...the only thing I would add, that's also irritating, FINISHING your damn chances! Shoulda/coulda been 3 or 4 zip after 2, but nooooo they made John friggin' Bachman look stout in net.

Tired of every postgame mentioning how great the opposition tending was. The Hawks have the great, talented, most skillful forwards right? The Hawks have the finishers right? The Hawks score goals at will....by the bunch...right?

Give me a break....this team is hard to like.

Thats from left field. Lets just leave it about the ice. Kane needs to score more goals thats what hes paid to do agreed and its pissing me off. Some are saying his shot is not the same and maybe the wrist surgery he had in the offsason is effecting it. Who knows but something needs to give.

But there is nothing that says anything about him "partying" this year. Silly comment in my opinion. And although hes not been lighting the lamp I dont see him as the problem for this teams overall lack of focus or inconsistency hes still been playing good hockey when hes been on the ice.

I agree with Rob love the term "evil" guys. Thats great.

Look at all Dallas's goals dirty gritty tips and such. The Hawks seem to have a problem with this. Everything is trying to place the prefect shot in the corner.

Why cant guys like Sharp Hossa Kane and even Toews this year get to the FRONT OF THE DAM net. We hear it night in and night out but for some reason our studs are always trying to snipe. Hossa is a big strong guy who is almost impossible to move off the puck and has one of the best pair of hands in hockey. Why is he not set up in front more often screening, tipping shots, and cleaning up rebounds?

Its just one of those things. They score and the defense sucks, they start to find some team defense and the scoring drys up. Inconsistent.

Kane is a perfect example. They say the best way to pick up some goals if you are in a slump is to get around the net. (Frolic also) Now I dont think Kane should be Thomas Freaking Holmstrom but get your nose around the front. Use those hands to tip a puck or better yet use them to finagle a rebound around a couple bodys into the net. NOPE

Hossa same deal. always skating around the perimter then trying a snap shot from 15 feet out. Get to the front. Howd he get his goal tonight not off some pretty shot or crazy move but because he was at least around the net and picked up some garbage thats how you score. Id like to see him right on the doorstep more often whos going to move him.

You know why guys like shaw and hayes have been getting some goals latley, because they've been getting to the FRONT. so this goes out to Hossa Kane Sharp and Toews but also guys like Bolland Brunnete Mayers and Frolic and especially on the PP.........................wait for it................................here it comes..................................the answer is..........................................GET TO THE FRONT OF THE FARKING NET..... Let me add ......Please! With a Cherry on top!

And the complete absence of any defenseman capable of or even attempting to move bodies from the crease on any of the three goals.
- Return of the Roar

Kind of late to this party but wanted to highlight this post. This is one of the things that really gets on my nerves. I hate defensemen who are not proactive.
Total meltdown...
I think that Dallas got his 15 shots of the 3rd period on their last 15 mins...
The 41-15 stat is just ridiculous...

I really want Steve Ott.

I say Stan makes two more AHL moves as future practice in route to become a real NHL GM. Put you big boy pants on Stanley and get in the sand box!

Yep. But I think there are valid questions if he is too cautious/"thrifty" to do much then. Or if he has the proper judgement. After Campbell was dealt, he did nothing with $5+ million in cap room. Hawks are paying for it now.
- John Jaeckel

So one loss - a bad one, to be sure - has all of us going bak to 10 days ago, even JJ: his trade rumor posts the past couple of days almost seemed upbeat, all of the names, yes, something ood will get get done....

Now, back to doom and gloom.

Hawks had two very good to excellent 3rd periods against two very good teams over the week-end: came back to take the lead, played smart, defensive hockey after that, Crawford stopped everything he had to stop.

Last nite the opposite: had the lead, turtled in their own zone, chased, didn't clear, lost positions, let Dallas take control. Hossa, Leddy, Boland (keep your leg down - you're not a peeing dog) - bad things happen when your "playing philosophy" is wrong, and that was the cause of the loss.

A hard loss - but didn't Detroit blow a 2-goal 3rd period lead last nite? It happens. Let's see what happens in California: a reversion to the last week, or to 10 days ago?

Goals for...191, third best in the league.
Goals against...178, sixth worst in the league.

They need more defense more than they need more offense...so yeah, not needed.

Not enough going there. They'd want a decent prospect too.

But I like the suggestion of the guys you'd like to see coming here.
