I'd rather him than Carter on the Hawks. - andru2797
I'd agree with that. |

Why? He does nothing for the Hawks in my opinion. Hard to believe that Johnson and a pick were all that it took to get Carter. JJ said the Hawks made a fair offer, but if it wasn't better than that, then I'm not sure what Bowman is doing. I'm not broken hearted that they didn't get Carter, as I had concerns about his attitude, injuries and contract, but I'm beginning to wonder if the reason Bowman is unable to get a deal done is not because teams aren't willing to trade but more because he is overvaluing some of his players. There hasn't been a lot of deals, but in the ones that were made, I thought they were all pretty fair. I don't see one team fleecing another in a trade. Yeah, there might be some slight overpayment in some of these deals because it's a sellers market, but nothing that I thought was out of line. Still three days left, but I'm losing faith in Bowman being able to do anything to help this team this year. - RetiredGoalie
Columbus obviously wanted a good dman for Carter, we couldn't afford that from the get-go.
We're already weak on D.. Why give another one up?

Until realignment happens, they are still in our division. Higher price for us because of that? - NewToHockey
Maybe. |

If SJ gets Nash (and I hope they do before NYR does) ... watch out. Both the Kings and Sharks just got much better imo. |

Hammer + 1st < Johnson + 1st and I doubt the Hawks would do Hammer + 1st anyways.

True, but I was thinking if the Hawks did get Carter, a d-man would be coming with him OR the Hawks would replace the d-man given up in a separate deal with another team. |

Exactly my point.
I'm fine with them not doing that. |

Would love Dustin Brown but LA wouldn't trade with us. I mentioned this in the other blog before the actual trade went down, but I'd like to see Clb get Jack Johnson, then the Hawks trade Hammer + for Johnson. Johnson is a lot better IMO. |

Wings vs Nucks in another great game.....3-2 wings. Wings score 30 sec after Nucks tied it with 4 minutes left.
Will the wings ever lose again at home?!?!? |

Why would the stars trade Souray. They are only 5 pts behind the Sharks!? |

Just basing that on Pricey's post about the Hawks and Bruins being interested in Souray. I know that doesn't mean he is available, but I don't really think the Stars are going to catch or pass the Sharks especially with Benn and Morrow hurting. |

Why would they trade Grossman? Why is being said by every major media outlet that Ott is available and maybe even Morrow?
The standings being close with this amount of time left has been proven over and again that it's all smoke and mirrors.. It's very, very rare that anyone 5-7 points out right now can make the playoffs.
Most people feel that if you're not in it by Christmas, you're in some serious trouble. |

I don't think it is far fetched either. Like I said, just basing it on the interest the Hawks have been "reported" to have.

No it is not. Question is, when do Dallas and Tampa become sellers? |

I think you need to pony up a little more in both of those trades. This is a crazy market and even campoli took a 2nd rounder last year. I think I'd be good with the outcome though.

In my opinion, I think they both are already, but they just haven't made a trade yet if that makes sense.
Dallas traded away Grossman for picks. Ott and Morrow are said to be available. I would think most of their roster is not untouchable.
Tampa traded Downie and then flipped Quincey for a 1st round draft pick. Also with Vinny out for a few weeks with the hand injury, I would tend to believe they are going to be sellers. |

You are adding 5 NHL roster palyers and only losing 2. That's too many. I know some may suggest just waiving Brunette or OD, but if you ever wanted a veteran free agent to sign in Chicago again, you cant really do that either. I like the players you identify, but probably only could do part of what you are proposing.
