I wouldn't mind seeing Dustin Brown wear the Indianhead - BigMike19
Guys, this is not happening in any of our lifetimes.
At least not Dustin Brown being traded from L.A. (a playoff team in the West) to the Hawks, especially not while Stan Bowman will not give up a 1st round pick thats like 22nd overall. NOT HAPPENING.

At this point, if Columbus offered us Nash for Frolik, Scott and a first round pick, I think Stan would say they were asking too much. |

Since I am bored right now and based on the supposed interest the Hawks have with some players on the Lightning and Stars, wouldn't mind seeing this
Purcell
Thompson
Clark
for
Frolik
Bickell
Pirri
Lalonde
and
Souray
Burish
for
3rd round draft pick
Purcell-Toews-Kane
Sharp-Kruger-Hossa
Burish-Bolland-Stalberg
Mayers-Thompson-Hayes
Brunette
Keith-Seabrook
Hammer-Souray
Leddy-Clark
Lepisto
Olsen
I would be happy with a team constructed like this. - Dannyboy
Bringing in two mid 30 year old d-man, one of which is a pylon you have on the 2nd pairing. Souray hasn't played bad this year, but he's well protected and Clark has been brutal in TB this year.
I would NOT want both Clark and Souray. I'd take one of them just for some experienced depth.
So is Montador's season over?
As far as Thompson and/or Purcell, I do like 'em both, so nice hit there. I'd rather have a feistier player, neither Thompson or Purcell are bruiser although they aren't total marshmellows either.
Burish on the third line? He would be a fourth line guy, but very capable. If you moved Burish onto a 4th line with Thompson and Mayers, that could be a VERY GOOD PK unit.

You are adding 5 NHL roster palyers and only losing 2. That's too many. I know some may suggest just waiving Brunette or OD, but if you ever wanted a veteran free agent to sign in Chicago again, you cant really do that either. I like the players you identify, but probably only could do part of what you are proposing. - coldsteelonice
Dallas would probably need some salary back so Bruno or OD could go to Dallas and pony up a 2nd instead. I wouldn't be worried about a guy getting mad b/c he was released. Bruno and OD have not been good at all this year. Why waste a roster spot on them. I would be more worried about making a Cup run than hurting a players feelings. |

I am figuring Monty is done for the year. I would play Burish/Hayes on the 3rd and 4th lines. I would want Burish on the 3rd line during defensive zone faceoffs just in case Bolland got booted or even have Burish take the draw. Also, I would take Souray and Clark over any combo of Lepisto, Olsen, OD, or Scott for a playoff run. |

Not about the feelings. More about the fact, a veteran free agent would never sign here if the Hawks wouldn't think twice about releasing or trading them. That stuff DOES matter imo. |

If Monty goes to long-term IR that opens a roster spot so it could work. |

Watching Brunette on a break is a lot like watching a semi truck get going at a stoplight. You know its eventually gonna get there, but part of you doesn't really believe it will ever get moving. |

I am telling you Souray on the Blackhawks may not fit. He is slow and doesn't have good handle.
He is on the perfect team for his skills...a team that just sits back, gums up the neutral zone.
The Blackhawks play a much different game than Dallas and I fear Souray's lack of foot speed would be badly exposed.
Like I said, I don't want either one...A L2-C or a winger or two yes...OR a d-man that REALLY excites us. |

In this scenario we're discussing, don't forget that we can send Hayes and Olsen down with those acquisitions.
Re: Carter...I'm glad we didn't give up anything. Personally, I think he's nowhere near what we need, the only thing I remember of him from the cup finals is an empty netter when keith couldn't keep a puck in. I'd much rather spend that cap room on a mid level D-man and some skilled road graters. Unless of course you want to attempt the vancouver method and try to outscore your way through the playoffs.
Do you guys think Burish has a hard time stirring things up with the guys here. That "scuffle" with seabs didn't seem like much of a scuffle.
Was that Al in the press box?

Sure looked like him!
Burish seems like such a no brainer for the Hawks. He brings the hits, he has speed, can take faceoffs, plays PK, wouldn't cost much $ or trade aspect. Burish has more scoring touch than Frolik for (frank) sake. |
