1 - 0 into the 3rd. Gotta have at least a point with this game.
What a lazy-ass 3rd period they played. And it bit them...all 3 goals off deflections!

You think stretch passes that never connect, no physical presence, and an inability to skate the puck out of his own zone is a problem?
In all honesty I only saw the last period of this game so I don't have much to judge Hammer on, but I'd really like to see him dealt not just for his average play but the price we're paying. - Dieselhead
Plus not much offensively, but then again none of our defensemen really excel in the O Zone |

Hawks didn't seen interested all game vs an undermanned Star team.
Really didn't challenge Backmann all nite....and then folded in the 3rd.
Off to LA.... - bogiedoc
Maybe -probably - but defense was very good through 2: only 10 SA thru 2.
Certainly more pressure on Bachman through two than on Crawford. |

No one is going to let the Hawks add without subtraction. The market is crazy right now, and the Hawks don't have enough chips (as in players they can trade which do not suck or are essential to their team success) to play the game.
I say fold up the tent and wait until next year. That way I can work on my golf game a month or two earlier. |

I really enjoyed watching #8 triping over his own shoelaces on that last goal. |

And the complete absence of any defenseman capable of or even attempting to move bodies from the crease on any of the three goals. |

Really surprised that Hossa would make such a poor decision defensively on that first goal. He failed to get the puck out not once, but twice. That play turned the momentum and the game. On the second goal, it looked like Bolland lifted his leg when he had a chance to block that shot. That's a BAD loss. Now you have to go on the road to play against two teams that are just as desperate, if not more, than Dallas for wins. Without Toews in the lineup, this team is very ordinary. Don''t tell Stan that though. - RetiredGoalie
Hossa's made that error before - he's very aggressive in looking for the breakout, relying on his certainly excellent stick to control the puck. Could say he got unlucky that the Star at the point smothered it with his skates.
Or, could say bad decision in a 1-0 game with 10 minutes left.
And the winner is: bad decision.
But the Hawks did get the puck back and had another chance to clear it and couldn't - Hossa giveaway. |

I am not pointing at you but your post.
This has been a problem all year........40ish minute efforts. Either it's the 1st or 3rd, but they don't play 60. In some of those half-ass efforts it has been good enough to get the 2 points, but it is a disturbing season long trend. |

Brutal flyby at the point to cost the Hawks the game. |

Much more than that play was to blame. Plenty to go around. Start with lazy entire third period. End with this team is too soft to play a physical team and last for three periods. |

After 62 games, Kane has 13 goals. This is not a trade Kane post by any means, but his inability to put the puck in the net is really hurting . Right now, I don't see him getting 20 goals and for a guy who is one of your supposed leaders, that's beyond being a bad year. Listening to Joel after the game, "tough loss", "didn't generate much offensively", "can't give up those types of goals", yadda, yadda, yadda. Seems like I've heard all of it before. |

Kane needs a skull cracker on his line playing the other wing to open it up for him. And that guy is NOT Viktor Stalberg. |

Absolutely - I wasn't defending them at all, just saying they played a very good defensive game for 40/50 minutes - then turtled and let Dallas take charge - and in a one-goal game, a 10 minute coffee break leads to a loss.

Agreed. In a 3-1 game, or a tie game early in the first, fine go ahead and take that chance. But in a 1-0 game with ten minutes to go against a team desperate for a win and goals at a premium, you can't make that decision. As you said, they could have gotten away with it but the second time the puck came to Hossa, he made no attempt to control it and instead took a weak no look swing at it and deflected it right to the point man who put the shot on net that Ott tipped in.

He also said Toews is fine, was at the game.
Does that mean he's going to LA? Going to play before April? |

Phuk that how about Hossa not trying to skate the zone and if he simply gets the dam puck out we have a differnt outcome. In a tight game where they are suppose to playing D zone hockey what kind of poop was that by Hossa. If that was Kane he'd be dehaeaded by now. Just a boneheaded play in a tight game that gave Dallas their first goal and gave them the momentum they needed.
But since thats off my cheast yea Kane needs to light the god dam net. Pissed off right now. |

It seems that our best games are against teams above us in the standings. Too much playing down to or below teams that are behind us! |

That's almost a given with this team.
I don't recall hearing #34's name being called during the game. |

As far as the Hawks not getting Carter we all need to realize the CBJ got a solid defenseman in return and unfortunately we can't afford to give up a defenseman because well.....um....we don't have enough depth to give up any. Secondly because CBJ is in the same division the asking price was probably higher and who knows maybe there was no intention of ever trading Carter to the Hawks and it was just to get more teams involved in the bidding......and who knows maybe Columbus is willing to trade Johnson now ? |
