I would give that to Parise and maybe Stafford has some leverage being his best friend. They don't have to deal Roy in the offseason they can do it next deadline too. - sabresfandan
Not to sure on that one.
IMO they have to in order to change the dynamic of the team. His time is up and I think he knows it too. |

Nobody on GR asked him about that either . good question - cabin
Maybe Regier is thinking if he could get a 1st for Goose and flip that with Roy at the draft for X he could really improve the pivot, an obvious need. Trading Roy frees up $4M so if you make a splash for that #1 center, you would be fine with the cap. |

Could be why miller showed emotion . He could be the head bit#h of the team (core) and he sees it being dismantled . Maybe they just didn't think it would happen . |

Darcy said the market for Roy was pretty quiet and nowhere near what it was for Goose. |

Leopold becomes trade bait at the deadline next year.
I think he missed the boat not moving him this year.

I wish we would target Eric Staal in the off season but the Canes won't move him even though they should consider changing things there. Another option is keeping Roy and making a big push for Parise as a UFA. - sabresfandan
They have to make space to do this.
Sure they take 7.5 salary off their cap hit with Hecht and Boyes contract ending but 4.2 mill of that gets swallowed up Myers new contract kicking in from 1.3 to 5.5 per which leaves the Sabres a little more than 3 mill in space.
Then you have to resign Ennis (875,000 and you have to think he will get a raise to at least 2 mill to 3 mill per) and then Kaleta (907,500 and I would anticipate a raise to at least 1.2 - 1.5) for Patty .
So that just about eats up that 3 mill in cap space you had left which leaves the Sabres right at the ceiling again.
They will have to purge roster players under contract for prospects or picks to clear some room for Parise , Doan ,Wilson etc..... |

We're all set on wingers here unless we move one.
parise will cost 7+ on a 10yr deal.
Roy.......
Bye we just aquired your replacement, we've seen enough. - dadeadhead
Agree 100%. The Hodgson trade along with Ennis playing center and doing well, IMO, spells the end of #9's tenure in the Blue & Gold. |

I agree it is time to move on from Roy but at the same time you gotta make sure it's the right deal. Darcy is patient he will find a good deal. |

sign Doan too - gerbe75pts
Doan and his family absolutely love Phoenix, I just don't see him leaving unless Phoenix doesn't offer him anything reasonable.

I agree. The trending theme will be your pending UFA's will always be in play every deadline year, especially if your outside looking in on the playoff race. I posted yesterday that I thought Goose and one of Grags or Leo would be traded. I am surprised Leo wasn't moved yesterday. |

Not sure if they will resign PK . And Ennis im thinking 1.5m. We still have players to come in from the amerks to fill in . They will be a year more experience. |

Check your math please.
They have $6,687,144 in space after the Myers raise.

A good third line center to target next year would be Chris Kelly. One of Parros, Konopka or Prust would add some toughness. |

Got Parros off waivers in '12, he went on to lead the team in PMs and score 8 goals in the playoffs. |
