I agree what 22 year old player is not perfectly molded into a dominating Norris candidate every year already. he has only put on 40 lbs of weight in 3 years to adjust to. What a bum! - JVince117
Myers has been anything but consistent since he won the Calder. I think many of us aren't quite sold on him being a stud defenseman for years to come, we need more proof. |

Thats cool, your opinion or sarcasm means just as much as mine.
I just dont see him being a Norris trophy winner. Myers is vastly over rated.
Amusingly so to me.
But hey, not everyone can have the same opinion right? |

Yea, I just have not seen it sam.
I have seen more bad nights than good nights from Myers and like I said at some point excuses of age need to stop being made for him. Just my opinion of course. |

He definitely has. As a rookie he was 185 and no body really knew how to defend him that well with his speed, agility, skating skills, and shot.
Now he has been in the league 3 years and has had to adjust every season to an additional 20 lbs of weight added to his frame in the off season.
And now there is almost 3 full years of film on him to digest.
I am not saying he is gonna be the best offensive d-man in the league in the future but he is gonna be a darn good player. He will never be Pronger or Chara's physicality.
Tyler Myers will be Tyler Myers. You cannot compare him to karlsson or Campbell either. Myers is better defensively than both of them but just not as good offensively yet.

Agreed.
Plus I don't like how he is caught in between being a big, physical defenseman and a swift, offensive defenseman.
IMO he needs to become Brent Burns. Take a few pucks to the face, lose some teeth, grow a beard and start playing like he's mad at everyone. No more Mr. Nice Myers - plus we have enough offensive coming from the back end.
But that's just me. |

i can't argue that he needs to look meaner... but if you go and look at some of his highlights and youtube videos... the guy has laid some major lumber in his days.
He is caught in the middle of big/physical and swift/scorer... but isn't that considered a well-rounded d-man?
that is what I would prefer.
Ehrhoff/Sekera is strictly offense. Regehr/Weber/McNabb are strictly defense.
Its nice to have a guy that can do both? |

I would rather have a guy dominate one way or the other than be 'ok' at either. He's not Karlson and he's not Chara...pick one. Again, that's just me. |

He is Tyler Myers. There has never been a d-man in the NHL with his size that has so much fines, speed, agility, footwork, and offensive awareness.
I'm telling you..
Myers - Ehrhoff
Regehr - McNabb
Weber - Sekera
Could be a top 5 defense in the NHL in the next 1-2 years. |

Question : how were you at age 22?
Because the guy's a world class NHL player, he get's no time to adjust? |

I would rather have a guy that is tremendous at both, like......Ryan Suter, who I would sign in a second to be Tyler's perfect playing partner and mentor to get him there.
Myers - Suter
Ehrhoff - Regehr
Seker, Weber, McNabb
Let the fun begin next season! |

I envy your optimism.
Myers - Inconsistent.
Ehrhoff - Much improved, might be turning into a legitimate top pairing guy.
Regehr - Slow and clearly on the down side of his career. I can see injuries becoming more frequent.
McNabb - has played 20 NHL games.
Weber - borderline AHL defenseman.
Sekera - Inconsistent and loves to turn over the puck.
I'd call it a middle of the pack d-corps. No where near top 5 calibre. |

Make sure you turn off the salary cap...
and Don't expect to score any goals.
We already have a very good defense in place.. our biggest problem is that as soon as it is no longer a 1-0 or 2-1 type game... we only win the game like 30% of the time.
3-2 last night is rare. I think I remember reading that when the Sabres score 3 goals or more they win like 80% of the time. But when Miller gives up 3 goals or more we lose 70% of the time. |

I hate to be an agree'er but I think I agree with this. Hoff still has the occassional gaffe and could be a liability on a playoff run but his upside is well worth any issues he has. I also think Regehr would be a warrior come playoff time. If it happens we'll be glad we have him. |
