In other news, the Rochester Americans announced Tuesday that Drew Schiestel has been reassigned to the Texas Stars of the American Hockey League.
An AHL All-Star a season ago, the 6'2 defender suffered his second knee injury in a span of 10 months in the Amerks season opener. Schiestel had a hard time getting into a groove upon his return, compiling two goals and 12 points while platooning at times as a forward due to injuries and recalls.
The loan to Texas places Schiestel in a situation to play regularly as part of a clear day roster, and more importantly, affords him an opportunity to re-gain his confidence down the stretch in the final year of his entry-level contract.

Ruff could bust out the dynamite caps and blow up all of his winning line combinations in a last-ditch effort to kick start his top line of Vanek-Roy-Pominville. - garth
Garth, Miller and the D won the Ducks and Sharks games. There were no "winning line combos" to speak of. 3 goals were scored in those 2 games. And the Vancouver game was won on a Luongo bust.
Or, he could leave his lines intact and give his top unit one last opportunity to play itself out of a dismal scoring slump. - garth
If this is the reason, this is why Ruff needs to go. This friend/homie/brother/budddy-buddy mentality is getting old.
Ruff said in his post game presser that he even asked Derek Roy what the coaching staff should do with his slumping line. Ruff said taht Roy told him to leave his line and the opther three trios alone, that he and his linies would handle their business.
Ruff was right to ask Roy, rather than take the crowbar out. - garth
In other words, Ruff has lost control of the team to Roy? Wow.

Granted both that lines goals came on the PP, but Roy was correct. They played a much better game.
Roy and Pommer work well together, Vanek is weak in the corners and effort. Outside of his goal tonight hes the one not helping that line.
I suggest switching Vanek and Ennis. Ennis-Roy-Pommer, Vanek-Hodgson-Stafford

Agreed with everything except Carolina being a gutsy team. Toronto gets passed by another team. Beautiful |

I thought they had much better offensive zone presence this game than any of the others. Less one and dones. |

Sure, that's great for a third line, but out of our top line I want more than mediocre offensive zone puck control |

They created chances, a lot of them, but came up short. I saw much better out of them then the last 5 games combined. They played with more confidence tonight.
I'd still swap Ennis and Vanek |

Ryan Miller says he's ready, willing and able to play when he his coach needs him to play. Miller says that he took full advantage of his day off on Tuesday. He laid on the coach, watched TV, and grubbed down on food. - garth
I don't know how I feel about this. Really, I don't get on Garth for his spelling and grammar issues, but that one is just bad. |

Ehrhoff was responsible for both goals... Ehrhoff blasted one from the point... Vanek had an easy rebound.... Then Hoff found Pommers.. Then Pom labeled it from the slot... 4mil a year for Ehrhoff is a great contract... |

Ehrhoff has been awesome since coming back from his injury. His game has really picked up from where it was the first few weeks of the season. The cap hit makes it even better. |

I have a feeling he is only gonna get better too... He and Myers will be awesome to watch the next few years... Both could be all stars for awhile... |

every time he touches the puck on the point i get excited cuz something good is going to come out of it when he shoots the puck towards the net |

Stats wise he's not too far off of Bieksa, and his cap hit is 1.5 mil less. I'm ok with that. I like what he's brought to the team. He will get physical when he feels it's necessary too. |

I just wish he wasn't quite so "Zhitnik" like though. I'd like to see his shot find the back of the net a little more often. |

i think his shot is a little too high, but other than that he has been an assist machine as of late, if he could get it down a little bit i think he would have a better chance of finding twine |

His shot is all over the place. If I'm not mistaken, he broke the face of Hamonic in front of the Islanders net back at the beginning of February. I like how he jumps into the play a lot though. He creates a lot of chances when he's in close as well. |

Yeah i agree but its someone im definitely happy to have. seems like ruff is encouraging that lately, prime example was tonight with myers getting plenty of shots in the slot and the one alka sulzer smoked off the pipe. |

He's actually played well as a fill in. I feel more comfortable with him on the ice than I did with Gragnani this year. He's more of a stay at home guy though, so that's probably part of it. |
