Gomez 99 points in 140 games
Briere 96 points in 97 games - nastyflyergirl
so 99 points in 140 games isn't production from a guy who is in now way shape or form to be considered a scoring forward? |

I've already illustrated how Bryz's struggles weren't all his own. Briere's are his own. I know you don't agree but it's the truth, it's why once these new defensemen were added I foresaw a change this very season and it happened. I don't know what to do with Briere but cross my fingers and click my ruby heeled slippers together and say there's no one like Danny three times fast. Yea he made a nice pass to Hartnell in overtime. how about the rest of the game? Oh and who's to say that pass wasn't meant for Coburn who opted not to take the pass or just didn't see it? - JoeRussomanno
You've given your opinion which is what we all do here, of how Bryzgalov's struggles weren't all his own. I think, in my opinion, that there were a lot of factors to why Bryzgalov struggled, but the biggest reason is on Bryzgalov himself. That's the truth, in my opinion of course. He was the guy not stopping the puck. Putting it on others is giving him a pass. There's a clear bias here, further indicated now by your questioning whether the great set up to Hartnell by Briere was even meant for Hartnell. |

The fact that there is no cushion this year bothers me. It stinks. $3M (approx. $2M bonus)? Yuck
Sorry, this was in reference to my Brayden Schenn comment and why his contract is annoying to me. I posted earlier today and haven't had the chance to check back... |

That's not what the Cap charge to the Flyers is going to be this year for Schenn. Your looking at a projected Cap hit of $1,403,608 for Schenn for this year right now. Provided he stays on the Flyers roster the rest of the Season. |

So you are unwilling to acknowledge that chemistry (or the lack of it) has anything to do with Briere's struggles this year? Interesting. |

I agree, good defense man won't keep some of those terrible goals from getting in the net. Good D allow shots from the outside still and some of those goals were stinkers earlier in the year. I said it was a bad contract at the time and it still is....no matter how good he is playing right now- NMC with that many years and that big of a cap hit? Noose. Now, back to cheering for him because he is the goalie of the unforeseeable future and he is playing well.
My 2 cents about Briere: He needs top pick it up and bring it in the POs as usual. No one knows if it will happen. Durrign the regular season he isn't worth that cap hit, but he is worth it for sure in the POs so far. This year and maybe next if he doesn't pick up the points in the POs I could see him shipped even with the NMC and the Kids. |

YOu can't expect the goalie to stop the puck everytime the opposing team's top snipers are left all alone to his backside either can you? There are ways to take a goalie out of the equation is there not? I felt the Flyers were allowing themselves to be beaten that way too many times. Sure a goalie can make a miracle save from time to time but Bryz was making those earlier in the season at times and saying he wasn't is a gross oversight. You can go to youtube and type in Bryzgalov save Flyers and quite a few big stops from earlier in the season come up. THat right there gave me faith in Bryz combined with the other factors.
With Briere its a lot different comparing a goalie to non-goalie. But here we go. Briere is a one dimensional player there's no debating that. HIs one dimension appears to disappeared when that happens with those types of players it's game over. The best comparison would be to jagr. Jagr is like half the player he was but he's not one dimensional. He can carry that puck like a running back carrying a football through 5 tacklers and still make a play. Also he can backcheck half decently too. I don't see those aspects whatsoever with Briere. HE's a pure finesse point producer. All I'm saying is if a mechanism becomes available (it probably won't) to move him you do it. IF Briere was half the cap hit I'd be doing a 180 in terms of my stance.

I was looking at Capgeek and his $3M contract against the cap. Can you explain how this works to me? I understand bonus cushion, but why is only $1.4M the projected cap hit? |

It's a factor but is that stopping everyone else? He's supposed to be a leader and all then go make chemistry. Chemsitry is simply learning where your linemates are going to be and how you can use your skill set with them, it's time he figured it out. |

Bryzgalov wasn't criticized for not making saves where he had no chance. He was criticized for not making the routine stops, for the lack of consistency in his game. That had nothing to do with the defenseman. And every thing to do with Bryzgalov. |

Depends on who was doing the criticism but he got criticised by fans and media for goals not exactly his fault. Bryzgalov like any goalie is going to give up bad goals. Yes he gave up bad goals but the Flyers had serious defensive woes and to act like that didn't contribute to his problem is wrong. |
