I mean, his "past his prime" is still better than most players in the league. Extremely talented players in their prime are not going to be moved, the only free agents this year are Parise and Suter and who knows if they'll even leave their respective teams. Iginla brings intangibles that this team sorely lacks. - snowstorm077
If we're looking for a veteran leader with intangiables, I'm taking Shane Doan all day long. |

i was already starting to get over it and locker clean out day makes it worse. - LizzyJo
Very true. A few days ago it was "oh well they lost a hockey game". Now its all the ineptitude of the organization that is coming out.
One thing is clear. There is no Stanley cup on the horizon. |

I would've dealt him at last years deadline to be honest, but that said after getting paired with Ennis he seemed to be way more energized. Looking at his stats stil hit 20 goals 50 points still, more is expected if he can't bring that early in the season next year I say move him at the deadline for whatever you can get. If he can play the way he did for the last 20 games for a good 82 games next year he could really be effective. - Sabres30
You don't get rid of guys with 2.5 seasons left on their deal at the trade deadline. |

hearing roy admit to the injuries still bugging him makes me understand why he was such a non factor, but hearing him call out ruff, makes me believe players are not responding to lindy anymore. i mean i like lindy and all but maybe it really is time for a new coach to light the fire under our asses.
i wouldn't hate having roy back for next season. - LizzyJo
LJ where is this interview ? I can't find any quotes about him criticizing Ruff, etc. |

Jeremy White is such a douche. He is a total kiss a$$ for both the Sabres and Bills. It will be even worse this year with WGR being radio host for Bills games. - imsorry66
The thing with Jeremy White is that he tries to portray an attitude that not everything is as doom and gloom as 90% of the people that live here make it out to be, which I can respect. His problem is that he goes too far with it and can often sound like a superfan by doing so. I will say this. Sullivan had some good points, but all Jeremy White did this morning was tell him to be more specific than to make general statements that we've all been making ad nauseum for the past 6 months, which, to me was a fair point. I found it odd, for instance, when Sullivan said the problem was that Regier didn't draft and develop a #1 center in the 15 years (valid statement), but then tried to qualify it by saying that he wasn't looking for Malkin or Crosby, or even Danny Briere. Sullivan refused to name one. He couldn't. That's not how to make a good argument. |

i came into today thinking roy was for sure out of here, but after listening to him i think it should be lindy who goes. |

It's sad when making the playoffs is the first objective with our Buffalo sports teams. For good organizations that would be a given, and the main prize is the first and only objective. |

I don't see the point in speculating about the deadline. First, you have to see how the playoffs pan out. Then the draft. Then July 1st (and 2nd, 3rd, 4th, etc.) Then camp. Then preseason. And then there is the small minor detail of how October thru February pans out. Derek Roy could have 30 goals and 50 assists by then. Stafford could have 25 and 25. What use is it to speculate now whether or not to trade them in 10 months? It's possible that neither of them are on the team 3 months from now. |

I say can Roy, find another #1 or #2 center.
I'd be willing to sign back #55 for 1.5MM or less a year, he would make a great 4th line center. He's physical and great on the PK!
I'd be all for trading Vanek + a 2nd for a winger who will work hard and not slump so much.
Keep the D as is... but get rid of Weber. Get Sultzer to resign. |

Doan would be easier to get and cheaper. IDK if he'd leave phoenix though. |

I think you have to keep 21... a full year of that line would get you 80 goals and 200 points. |

And zero Stanley Cups.
Stafford will never hoist a Cup in his career. |

He wants to win a cup. Can you imagine if Phoenix won the cup? I can't think of a worse scenario for the state of the NHL. Doan has to move, or retire the happy bridesmaid. |

I'm sure you've said that about a lot of players that have hoisted the cup.
And if that line does scor 80 and 200 points and dont' win a cup, it wouldn't be 21's fault. |

If for some reason you guys think it's fun to talk about the trade deadline already, have at it. I'm just saying that you won't move Stafford at the deadline. Rental players get moved at the deadline. If not rentals, it's prospects that are moved. Stafford is neither. At least Roy is a possibility since he will be on the last year of his deal. Saying that Stafford will be moved at the deadline is an unrealistic, uneducated opinion. |

No. I think the only player I've ever made a similar statement about was Michael Peca. When he left I said he would win 'Cups' before he was done.
I was wrong.
I'm right about Stafford. |

Where did I say move 21? I said move roy, but do it NOW! Send him to Carolina with a 1st or 2nd for skinner. |

Start of 04 training camp Lindy announced the team goal was "to make the playoffs". At the end of the day (day 1) Chris Drury requested a trade. He told Lindy he didn't want to be on a club who's only goal was to make the playoffs.
