You gotta throw the BS flag when something comes from the EDM blog.
How does he hear something that we, nor any other blogger hears?
His source is...??????
Reminder: comment about Miller wanting to be traded- - Purple Eagle
To be fair, the Edmonton source about Miller was also the first to break the news that Terry Pegula was trying to buy the Sabres. |

Whether Derek Roy was injured or not, he still needs to go. Fact is, even when he was playing well last season, the rest of the team stunk. When he went out, this team started to play really, really well. He's not a necessary piece, and the team's performance or lack thereof is really no better or worse when he's in or out of the lineup. That's not good enough for someone who is supposed to be one of the main guys. - buffalofan19
Remember the last time Roy was our 3rd line center though?
Our 3rd line dominated other teams so badly we were one of the top scoring teams in the NHL 2 years in a row
If we are going to get back to the "3 scoring lines" theory...
Then keeping Roy makes a TON of sense
Only way I'd deal Roy is to either move up & get Galchenyuk...
Or for another center with a decent cap #
Someone like Pavelski (4.0mil)..... Not stastny or even getzlaf (who has an ok cap# right now, but IMO will not be worth the HUGE new contract we'd have to sign him to) |

Agree with every point. Especially regarding Stastny. There are a ton of people on this board who should curb their desire for Stastny until they get a chance to review the Twitter feeds of the people who actually cover the Avs. Stastny is the poster child for undermotivated/overpaid players there. |

It only makes a ton of sense if your top 2 lines are as dominant as they were in 2006 and 2007. The Sabres aren't going to have that next year. |

He was among the first and bandwaggoned on what he read elsewhere (Buffalo source) that someone was making a bid to take over the team.

We can't afford it. Look back at how much was spent on D-ma those years, it was pennies when you look at this years numbers and next years. |

This would mark the 387th time the Sabres have acquired Jerome Iginla, at least going by this site. |

Agree completely. And that won't happen until they bring in a #1 Center. |

Before I throw $6.6M @ Stastny, I'd throw $5.5 @ O'Reilly

O'Reilly would be a perfect 3rd line center here. It's just a bit scary that a 3rd line guy would be getting that kind of cash. |

If you accept Roy's take on Ruff, Lindy's style is to abdicate his role as teacher or strategist in favor of simply berating players.
Not saying that these guys never need a kick in the arse, but don't you have to analyze video once in a while? Is Ruff seriously getting paid to just walk around and yell?
I am willing to do that for a fraction of Ruff's salary. |

He had 55 pts last year; that would put him @ #3 on the Sabres roster.
He's 53% on the dot as the #1 F/O guy in COL.
His takeaway/giveaway ratio is 3:1
He would not be a 3rd line guy here-

After reading that article, it definitely sounds like there's an issue in the lockerroom, just like we all thought. But where we were pointing fingers at various players causing disruption among each other, it seems that it's divided more between the coaching staff and the players. That to me, says it's time to make some changes. I think Ruff needs to go. I just don't know that we'll see Terry pull the trigger on it. I would think that just like any good businessman he'd take some of these comments that are coming out to heart and really evaluate what's going on, but who knows right now. |

Basically what you're saying is essentially it would be like having 3 #2 guys. At some point someone has to be 1, 2 and 3. Really, it doesn't matter which one is which. |

Sounds like a lot of finger-pointing drama-
Hopefully it leads to Roy's departure.

Any chance Roy is right? Keep in mind, just because he is the only guy complaining publicly does not mean that he is the only one complaining. Most of these guys wouldn't publicly call out any coach, let alone someone like Lindy, under any circumstances. |

the Foligno-Ennis-Stafford line looks like it could produce like the Hecht-Briere-Dumont line
And the Drury line actually wasn't the most productive offensively
Vanek should out produce what drury did...
And Hodgson should be better than Grier, gaustad, kotalik, etc
If Pommer plays on that line instead of Tropp, or we get someone like Dustin Brown, then the production shouldn't even be close
Regardless of whether or not the production of the 1st 2 lines is as good as the briere & drury lines...
Point is that when teams do their gameplay against us, they will look to account for the ennis & Hodgson lines first
That would leave Roy's line with good matchups most nights |
