Please explain. Or did you not bother reading the last 50 or so posts. - mvp0207
I just find the whole situation to be very ironic.
Surely you can understand why.
I really hope Hossa is healthy and makes a recovery.

Yes I have been watching a bunch of cheap and dirty dirty hockey. That's not what I wanna see... Running goalies, running stars, beating up players "Carkner, hair pulling, the list can go on and on. I have seen a few nice hits like Dustin Browns hits and thats about it. The pits/philly game was a disgrace to hockey. - Smittyx36
Alright and thats because of these bullcrap rules and sherrif shanhan not taking charge. |

He will get slammed. He is the sacrificial lamb for all of Shanahan's goofs and to placate Rocky.
They can't take back Shaw or heal Hossa, so Raffi will get the book thrown at him. What a bunch of clowns. - John Jaeckel
As a callous, repeat offender...throw away the key too.

I think Doan shot the puck at Hammer and Hammer gave him a whack. I think it was just officials "trying to get a hold of the game." |

Hammer basically pushed the puck ahead after the whislte blew and it barely touched Doan. hammer looked as if he said, sorry, I didn't mean that, and Doan flicked the puck into Hammer. It was nothing. There was way worse after each shot on goal and whistles blown by the net. Just saying. |

K brah. Think we heard about this whole "ironic" bullsh*t from canucks fans enough today, come back when you actually have something intelligent to say. This has nothing to do with Keith/Sedin so see ya. |

Exactley this is a multi-million if not close to a billion dollar business and the best the NHL could do with one of its most important positions is Brendan Shanahan. I liked the guy and he was a good hockey player but hes in WAY over his head head and hes drowning. The best you could do is me needing to listen to this guys two minute explanation in his jock voice making absolutely NO sense.
Shaw in no way should have got 3 post season games plus time served as a first time offender (or about 18 regular season games) if Lucic got zip or if weber got zip or if Backstrom got one for a crosscheck to the face.

Your preaching to the choir! I had to watch Miller get run over by Lucic and then watch him miss 10-15 from a concussion and Lucic wen't unpunished.
Since that incident i new shany was a joke and had no idea what he was doing. He really killed his reputation doing this. |

I hope someone phucking decapitates Halak and Elliot you colossal KNOB. - philco28
You just don't get it.
Goalies shouldn't be decapitated by players. Smith shouldn't have been hit by Shaw and Halak and Elliott shouldn't be decapitated either.
This is a poor mentality to have. Someone disagrees with you and you want their favorite team's goaltenders to be decapitated.
You realize that you hoping that the exact same thing happens to another player, (gets decapitated) that you are up in arms with for happening to your team's player, right? |

No, Hammer flipped the puck at Doan's skates after the whistle as Doan was skating away, then Doan flipped the puck back towards Hammer. That was the penalty. Pretty ridiculous to even call such an act a penalty, the refs were unbelievable last night. |

Nobody is/has justified the Keith elbow. Explaining why someone did something is different than justifying or condoning what he did. We've only pointed out that if the ref had made the right initial call and given Sedin a penalty for his late, high hit on Keith, then Keith's inexcusable retaliation likely never happens. Just like if Shanny had set the punishment bar high enough for some of the nonsense that went on earlier in the playoffs then maybe Torres doesn't run Hossa as violently as he did.
Also, if you don't think Torres hit had every bit as much intent to injure as Keith's elbow, you're fooling yourself. - Ogilthorpe2

Call Daniel for his hit on Keith, no retaliation.
Keith's retaliation was dumb/bad. No argument.
Does he have a history of it? No. Does Torres have a history of trying to take guys heads off, yes, he does.
They are also different kinds of plays in different situations. You guys want to make an apples to apples comparison of apples and oranges.
Also, please spare me the justification of what Torres did as retaliation for what Shaw "did" to Smith. Shaw made him act like a fricking girl and writhe around on the ice in fake drama to get a penalty called and a guy suspended? Why would you "retaliate" for that? The Coyotes/Smith made out like bandits on that. Please.

So you either didn't read a bunch of what i thought were well thought out explanations explaining this. Or you didn't see about 50 or so people say keiths his was a disgrace. Your mind is made up and was made up before you even came on the blog as to what you were going to say. There is nothing ironic about any of this. That makes no sense. Whats ironic, the Kieth hit on sedin? I've answered this already about ten times min. Thats not ironic its simply two bad plays. One I disagree with but could understand a little and one I disagree with and cant understand at all. So what ironic about this. |

By not calling the penalty on Torres...
The Hawks didn't get a lengthy amount of penalty time
Hossa is probably out for the rest of the series - one of the Hawks best players - while that dillhole Torres is a lackey
The Yotes come OT might have actually been more exhausted from a prolonged PK
Torres got to stay in the game
There's many reasons why the Yotes have made out like bandits in this series. Pathetic. |

Well, i was there, you're right it was a nothing play, Hammer hit him on accident, but to call a 4 on 4 becuse of that was ridiculous. That cost them the game and yes it was another in a long line of horrible ref calls. |

Felt the same way when Letang was blasted by Pacioretty and then Nystrom. Doesn't change what happened and the team is still left without a major asset. |

That seems to be a strange decision, considering you have Hayes waiting in the wings and has NHL game experience, is a big body, can play physical, and would look perfect parking his huge frame in the face of Smith. - nelli312
Hayes isn't there mentally. He's Bickell without the playoff history. Saad has talent. If Hayes was able to cut it standing in front of the goal it'd be him there the last three months and not Shaw.
Having said that... if Morin made even linear advances this year over last I'd take him over Saad for the experience...
Has anyone heard if Toews is still symptom-free? Because a line of Saad/19/88 would only work if he's better than hes shown.

One thing I haven't heard people mentioning much was that on the CNBC broadcast (not Foley/Eddie O on CSN-C) Micheletti from between the benches said that after the hit Toews was steamed (rightfully so). Part of that was also due to the fact that Toews felt some Phoenix players were laughing on the bench.
I don't like Vancouver, but I'm not going to be laughing just b/c someone on their team could be seriously injured on a play like that. That was horrible to hear being reported. - stp1978
Wonder if any of those tough guys laughed when within ten feet of Bollig. Doubtful.
We saw what Torres did (turtle).
