None of them are perfect. Some are better than others.

I hated McCreary with every fiber of my being. Peel is terrible. Auger is awful. I never minded McGeough, Van Massenhoven or Stewart. One of the new guys, St. Pierre, is quite good in my estimation.

At this point JJ, when it comes to NHL refs, saying, "Ah, he's not TOO bad" about any one of them is actually putting them in the elite class of officials.

He skated right into the path of the Jets skater, who (like Shaw, IMO) made an effort to avoid the hit.

Smith seems to like to put himself into dangerous situation looking to get hit and draw penalties (and suspensions?).

Against Shaw, he just stood there, as if waiting for the hit.

Hard to respect Smith the way he carries on. Would have loved to hear what Crawford said to him last night. Also would have loved to hear what Emery might have said to the players laughing on PHX bench.
- John Jaeckel

Smith said in the post game he was asking Craw where he should go for dinner after the game, I hope Crawford told him he should probably just go back to his hotel and eat poop.

Not a goalie, but I am an expert in exercising common sense.
- Ogilthorpe2

c'mon, I have two kids who play goal. I have put their gear on for years... their armour is designed for one thing-stopping a little piece of black rubber shot at them, not absorbing body contact from some douche player. I think Smith was 90% at fault on this and yes he is a whiny little sh*t. That being said, to say a goalie coming out to play the puck is fair game is beyond moronic. SO this in your opinion is how the game should be played...

Just some of Torres light work. The guy is going to get a real nice suspension.

And you wonder when the NHL is gonna catch on to this guy's act. You're right JJ, I almost wish Emery was playing. I give Crawford full marks for going right up to him and saying whatever he said, but it probably would have been much more heated if Emery was on the ice.

Funny you mention this assman, Toews did not see a shift of four on four. Kind of odd.
- nickmo2699

Toews was on the ice for the second Yote's goal - during a 4 on 4. He's the one one trying to cover two defenders while Sharp skates around aimlessly.

I still have no clue why a goalie should get any extra protection over anyone else when he's playing the puck outside the crease. Makes exactly zero sense.
- Ogilthorpe2

its a business decision. They're hugely important to a teams chances of winning and make a ton of money and you can only afford to pay 1. they're going to be protected. you may not like it. But i read all of your posts-you know what's what. You can understand a little why they try to protect goalies

The other thing is, even if Crawford has ten times the character, Smith s a better goalie.

Shannahan is a complete idiot. Everyone that has ever played with and against him, cant stand him. He is useless. The league is so messed up that they took a man who slept with his team mates wife (Craig Janney) and then married her. He is so lost in that job and in his life.. There is ZERO consistantcy in the manner things are being dealt with.

Torress did this to Doug Weight in the 2006 Stanley cup, Seabrook last year and now Hossa.

What needs to happen to get someone banned or 10 plus games??

Do we need to see a player get paralyzed????

WAKE UP NHL!!!!

- Bambino68

No, they're waiting for another Bill Masterton.

Just like the dumb@$$ highway departments wait until blood flows red on the highway before they fix things, so too goes the NHL.
