The day i see coach or GM stand up and say our guy was wrong...we don't want that type of play etc....with the same outrage they demonstrate when something happens to one of their guys...is the day you might start seeing end to this.
the missing element here is team accountability - bogiedoc

I think Pittsburgh pretty much did that after that last ridiculous elbow Cooke threw that got him the 20-game suspension, or whatever it was. |

I was going to read through 33 pages worth of posts to make sure this hasn't been mentioned already, but I don't have that kind of time.
Bob McKenzie tweeted that a 'late' hit is considered .5 seconds after a player is no longer control of the puck. In last year's SC Finals, Aaron Rome laid out Nathan Horton and it was .83 seconds after Horton passed. Last night was .87 seconds. And at the time everyone was super pissed about Rome's hit. Regardless which is worse, it's scary. (Not that anyone is debating whether or not it was a late hit, but just giving the data to support it)
Someone earlier posted something about players policing themselves. I wonder if this stuff would stop (or reduce significantly) if a Shane Doan said 'you know, the Torres hit was a nasty hit and we shouldn't have it'. But the problem is, these guys are all exacting revenge from earlier hits, so it's always ok. Eye for an eye? Thornton concussed Toews, Keith elbows Sedin, Doan clips Benn, Torres takes out Hossa. It's like it's a never-ending baton exchange of hits. At this point, it's all on the players. Nothing Shanahan can do, that ship has sailed. And what measure of revenge brings Hossa back? Time to sack up and win a couple games for 81. Torres is a giant piece of crap, but that's what keeps him employed (sadly). |

No , Im saying that Sedin got concussed because he tried to take Keith out 6 minutes earlier. Just why he did it , not better or worse.
Torres threw 2 boarder line checks before the Hossa hit , He was playing reckless and took out a super star WITH NO PENALTY called. - mrpaulish
Torres had been running around head hunting throughout much of this series -- just failed to land the knockout blow he was looking for ... until he got a good bead on Hossa. Any organization that employs that pile of dung knows exactly what he brings--attrition to the opposing team and not likely within the rules. This includes Tippett...he's quickly approaching dirtbag status in my eyes. |

You are correct...they told him the preverbial "shape -up or we ship you out"...
And Cooke changed his act and had a real good year! More of that will gone a long way toward cleaning this sh!!!tt up. |

I decided on a sign for tomorrow night:
HEY BETTMAN, HOW DID YOU LIKE YOUR UP CLOSE VIEW OF SHANAHAN'S NHL?

How about "Shanahan, where quality is job #1!" |

Primarily these players care about 2 things: $$$ and playing time. I like what the refs did in the Pens/Flyers game tonight. Called it tight...alot of penalties and started tossing guys for after whistle poop that typically let go when the game was over! 3 flyers tossed and Cooke. Start kicking them out regularly. This hurts them and their team! |

Take note guys pens down Martin Adams Asham and a 40+ goal Neal and they dominate. Lets rally around Big Hoss and get a win tomorrow. |

He is a hypocrit....Shaw's hit is "exactly what the league is trying to eliminate" according to Tippet...but Torres had no intent and hit him right in the chest.....yeah right. |

Is this the graphic we're using for the Canucks "sweep" party after the game tonight?
