Morrison actually looked pretty serviceable the last couple games he played. Won some draws and actually fit well on that third line. I wouldn't be opposed to him coming in. He might help shore up our 2-way game as well. I'd rather play a grizzled savvy veteran at this stage than a green rook who is far more likely to crap himself than break the game open.

I agree - Saad - fresh off of playing a whole season against 18-19 year olds that he can dominate - now has to play against older, more mature, bigger, better hitting, faster pros - the best in the world - in the play-offs?

Maybe next year, I fear not ready this year.

I think they should just draw a name out of a hat and go from there.

Hoping for a solid response to night, and in response I mean not losing.

This.

I have been saying this all year. Punish the team in game. If the team loses a player or players in a game, ciaches and GMs willnot let bad actors (like Torres) play for very long.

I would also increase the monetary fines. $2500 is NOTHING to Shea Weber. $75,000 is.

You missed a zero on that last number. $75k is nothing to a guy making millions a season.

This is what happens when you let the inmates run the asylum (e.g. unions).

I am not saying folks aren't in the right for finding all of the violence and cheapshots offputting, but I can't help but think some of this is tame compared to the 70s and 80s. Some of those first-round matchups were just wars. No doubt it's a new NHL with bigger and faster players wearing body armor, and I am slowly changing my view as a result. The hit last night looks like any number of Scott Stevens hits that were acceptable at one point (although there wasn't unanimity regarding that then, I know). Did anyone see J.R. on the intermissin of the Ott-NYR game tonight? It's like he knew that he gave and received those types of hits--but you can't do it anymore.

Didn't see that segment, but on Tue he said the same thing. And it's true. I can remember many times JR absolutely clobbered someone with a up-high hit. Most close to or on the glass. I saw him take a few shots too. Many of those in person at Chicago Stadium. But that was allowed/tolerated in the game at that time.

Oh what we've learned about concussions and CTE since then. But I digress.

No, this is what happens when those that do run the league - and until Fehr proves otherwise, it is the owners) - believe that the fan base think Torres hit was OK and Carkner's beat-down is OK and the way to solve the problem is more of the same.

I say he gets four games? The hit was late...why does he keep doing this?
- LeftCoaster

Because the stupid rules in place won't allow someone to grab a hold of him and beat the living sh!t out of him.

By that I mean zebras stand there and watch (sort of like during the hit itself when all 4 of them had their heads up their @$$es) a guy like Bollig grab him and rag-doll him like Probert used to do to so many dirtbags.

That is how it is stopped. Make an example. Not by suspension. But by a physical example of a sincere @$$ beating.

Let the pu$$y turtle, let him whine. Just don't stop Bollig from pounding the living f(u)cking daylights out of him.

The level of fines were dictated by the union. If some players knew they would get a significant dollar amount taken out for sh!t like this they would think twice.

Now that would likely defer a guy like Weber (I don't think he's dirty, he was just an @$$hat during the Zetterberg head-hammering) but for pr!cks like Torres, only one thing works: A severe beating.

They already have the suspension deterrent, which would also cost players substantial money, which they don't use well - what makes you think higher fines would do the trick?

EDIT ADD: Management has the tools now to shut the brutality down - they refuse to (or won't let Shanahan) use it.

And the limit isn't a union dictation - it is a collectively bargained part of the CBA. Blame ownership/management as much as the unions - they agreed to it.

Premeditation is actually grounds for more severe punishment....Keiths hit coulda ended up at the sheriffs office rather than Bettemans desk.....it comes full circle.....karma is a b!tch.....no shortage on hypocrites around here.
- Termin8

Karma is a b!tch. It's all about cause and effect. Keith on Sedin is karma for the way your team "plays" the game. Sedin hits Keith in the head so Keith hits him back. Simple cause and effect.

What goes around, comes around.
