he is 23, making a gazillion dollars, coming off a very subpar year
sorry, same as marchand after the cup..do it, but don't be an idiot and do it in public
his act has grown old
these guys do have a responsibility imo once they sign on the dotted line
that doesn't mean you have to be a saint..but don't be getting sloppy repeatedly in public, it's just (frank)ing stupid
do it like ute, get a bottle of ripple and make banjo strings out of her intestines, at the cozy confines of your own home, or hotel |

If Marleau didn't have such a sh!te contract that would be a nice swap. Even at 5.5 to 6 I think I'd do it, but nearly 7 is too much. I know he's a PO bust, but I think he'd be a good add beside Bergy. Another guy comfortable at center and wing, good both ways.
Ute/Thomas for Clowe/Marleau/2nd ... would you do it?
Edit:
Lucic Seguin Horton
Marchand Bergeron Marleau
Clowe Peverley Caron
Knight Campbell Thornton

Timmay's gotta be out based on this signing.
Chicago, SJ, Columbus, Tampa, or Detroit?
My money's on Chicago(where Obama's from ...kind of)
the return better be worth it, or we should friggin keep him. - bruinsbeer69
Yes, exactly what I was thinking ... The signing of this AHL-bound goaltender must spell the end for the 2 time Vezina-winning, Conn Smythe winning, CUP winning, All-Time Leading Save % Timmy Mother (frank)ing Thomas? right???
Are you on dope?
They brought in a 22 year old kid ... If anything, this means Tuukka may be on the way out. When they sign a vet to replace Thomas ... And you know that's how Chiarelli would roll if he were to do such a thing (no way he'd trust the goaltending reigns to the still-very young and unproven Tuukka) ... I'll start worrying about Thomas being moved.
I see this as the proto-typical Chiarelli maneuver to poach some under-the-radar talent without giving up a return. They had a chance to add a player they liked basically for free, and did so.
Doesn't mean poop-else at this point.

All I'm saying is that if you're gonna rock out with your cock out and hang out with your wang out, and it's on camera, you gotta do it with some hotter chicks
I mean, at least Marchand never got caught on film with anything this gross |

Yeah, I might have just seen the word goalie and overreacted
do you think they've thought of a scenario where they move Thomas, and go with Tuukka and the Commie next season? what would make the most sense is moving Thomas at the deadline if the brass thinks Tuukaa is ready.
I think you're right about it being a typical Harvard move. Wheeler comes to mind. Low risk, high reward, no cost. you've also mentioned the lack of depth on the farm. you know Providence better than the rest of us.
Harvard's brought in NHL level talent in net in Turco, Auld, McDonald, and Fernandez. all under different circumstances. All for different reasons. The fact that Timmay didn't win this last series, his NTC is gone, and he has a Facebook/Tea Party problem while Tuukka is waiting in the wings makes it more possible than ever before that he's gone at some point this year.
If he's gone, I want a good return. |

i know already posted but I can certainly see chia moving thomas during the summer goalie sweepstakes and going with rask / borat and signing some vet to a 2way - wone of these guys http://thehockeywriters.c...012-summer-goalie-market/
can also see him waiting until the season gets going, tuukka gets on a run, they are playing well and moving timmay to a desperate team for a nice ransom. they would have to get a good return which they could / would. |

Some interesting theories, but tough to put any kind of stock into a site that can't even spell "Tuukka" right.
What's even more nuts is the number of goalies hitting the market this summer. Holy poopballs!
Hold Timmy and wait. Value will be too low this summer with all the available UFA tenders in the mix. |

Maybe, maybe not ... Who knows. All I know is that if Timmy is indeed a goner, it's not because of the Swede ...
Right now, our system is full to the max with goalies under contract:
Thomas
Rask
Khudobin
Hutchinson
Morrison
The Swede
As it stands now, 2 of Hutch, Morisson, and the Swede will be playing in the ECHL.
Fine by me ... Creates more competition. |

All? That's only 3. And 2 of those 3 are in the NHL full-time.
I think Chiarelli's plan from the beginning was to keep Khudobin around and out of the KHL until Thomas' contract is up ... And to do that, he had to give him a 1-way deal and real money. The signing of the Swede can also be an insurance policy in case Borat needs to go through waivers and is poached ...
Lots of ways to look at everything.
I think Thomas moves on or retires after his contract is up (or his rights traded beforehand), and Khudobin is re-signed. I think that was Chiarelli's original plan and I think he's sticking to it |

I don't think it means he's definitely gone, but it certainly facilitates it if he is. I'm pro Timmy staying, but won't be upset if he's moved at a fair price or at least to make space for an impact player.
If nothing else its keeping the pipeline stocked pretty well.

3 guys on 1 way deals ain't bad ... Since 2 of them will be one-way full time.

i guess the question is do nhl teams carry 3 goalies? or would baldy risk someone nabbing borat on re-entry. |

There's also the question of whether they really want to pay Khudobin's full ticket while he's in Providence. |

They've had a few guys with NHL salaries haven't they?
borat > whitfield, hamill etc..
I like what I've seen from him. Would be comfy with tuukka - borat with some added depth on blue line |

I go back and forth on the goalie thing. I still think Timmy has a few good years left in him. I like Anton and you got to think with all these young goalies(Svedberg, Volden, Morrison, Hutchinson, Courchaine, Gothberg) maybe one you can hit on. I think I trade Tuukka. I think he can bring back something significant in return. Something for this year and the next couple. Like I said my feelings on this change by the day but the more I read stuff the more I change my tune. |

I've heard good things about Gothberg, but he's also a long ways away from what I understand. Goalies are so hit and miss it's next to impossible to predict who will put a good pro career together.
IF Khudobin can prove to be as good as he's shown in his limited showings AND Tuukka could bring back a huge return, then I'd be ok. If we trade Tuukka for Lars Eller and Aaron Palushaj I'll be pissed. |
