He just wrote back to me, and made a lame joke.

Even lamer than a Dupont joke

Meh ... I'm not thrilled with the outcome, obviously. But IMO Timmy has every right to do whatever the (frank) he wants to. He pretty much single handedly delivered the only Bruins Stanley Cup I've ever witnessed. If it wasn't for the 35+ rule and PC handing out the extended term, it wouldn't be an issue. I'm not going to hold it against the guy because he wants to take some time to reconnect with his family ... he's turning out to be a total (frank)in nut job but whatever, that's his right. Deal with it and move on. He's off the books next year, PC just needs to get creative in the meantime.

Agree 100%.

Chiarelli holds some of the blame on this one too, and he's the one who now has to make it right. Can't blame Thomas single-handedly for this situation. I've never felt like Chiarelli has ever backed Timmy 100% ... Hell, he went out and signed Manny Fernandez for Christ sakes . And Chiarelli's tried to trade Thomas on several occasions which have since become public knowledge. I think the relationship has always been a rocky one at best, and maybe Timmy's just over it. Who really knows?

All I know is that for me, this doesn't change a damn thing about the way I feel about Tim. I will always be grateful for the Stanley Cup he brought to the city, the only one in my lifetime thus far, and he will still go down as my favorite Bruins goalie of all time.

What's done is done. Time for Chiarelli to fix it.

at this time, i completely disagree
it's a team game and you just (frank)ed your teammates
yes. it's a business but ultimately i take this as a very selfish move
not many were bigger fans and supporters than i have been of his since day 1
i think he just trashed his legacy with the b's with this move
say good bye to being revered or getting your jersey potentially put up..not anytime in the next 20 years anyway

I think Tuukka's deal will be done prior to offer sheet time.

I know Burke isn't big on offer sheets, but he'd be in a hell of a position to stick it to Chiarelli if Rask was still sans contract come the offer sheet window ...

I get it for sure, but it's not like the guy's getting paid to take the year off, he's giving up $3M so he can do what he wants, which is his right no different than retiring. Not his fault it still counts against the cap.

Timmay did what he wanted to. He definitely screwed himself.

His contract is worth something, don't worry too much they will get some good value for it.

If irritated Timmay might have been a big distraction this year too

fleury is very streaky but weird that he decided to take a job in a place where he is the #2
makes all the sense in the world for the pens, light a fire under fleury's ass and at least they have a very viable #2 option now

- bruinsbeer69

Nope.

Tuukka is eligible for salary arbitration ... If Chiarelli files for arbitration, Tuukka is ineligible to be tendered an offer sheet. I don't think it will go to arbitration (I think a deal would get ironed out beforehand), but if Chiarelli needs extra time to get the deal done, he can file and it protects them from being offer-sheeted in the meantime.

He got a decent payday and contract for a guy of his age and skillset, and he gets to go to a contender instead of a trainwreck like the Leafs ... Not a bad deal at all, IMO. Smart move by the Pens as well ... Fleury

Meh

Timmy's done FAR more good than bad during his Boston tenure ... No way in hell I let him wanting to be with his family taint his legacy here (unless/until we hear otherwise).

Man's a god damn animal between the pipes. I think there's a lot of people on the "screw Timmy" bandwagon right now who will quickly remember exactly how lucky we were to have him once we see that our goaltending is back to average ...

Tuukka's time to sack up and take the reigns. Big shoes to fill ....

Like both of them ... Would be surprised if Wilson was still there when we pick in the 1st round though ...

Trade up?

Tim Thomas could take a poop on my kitchen floor and I would forgive him. He is the main reason by a country mile we ever saw a championship and if we wants to go, or take a break after nearly 20 years of globetrotting between the pipes I don't give a flying (frank).
