If David Jones getting $4 million a year is an indication as to how this free agency is going to go, I would stay the hell out of free agency.
I want to throw another angle at the Timmy trade thing out. What if we traded Timmy for a player with a year left on his deal that another team might not want that might be a need for us. First player that comes to mind is Morrow in Dallas. Salaries are almost the same. Dallas would save actual money by not paying Timmy. We get a guy that could help us out some. This is unless we can get some team to take Timmy's salary to get to cap floor.
A guy like Krejci could be hot in this market. Teams like Phoenix and Nashville are looking for a top flight center. Another thing I would do is if and when Kelly goes, I make Peverly the 3rd line center and go get a wing. I like Pevs at center more than the wing. Good on the face off dot, good vision, good passer, good 2 way player. - SandyMoger
Agree. I think Caron, Krecji and Timmay's contract are all on the block.

I wouldn't be opposed to trading Krejci, but we need to get equal+ VALUE, not necessarily salary, back in return. Ute is a great player when he's not "bored by the regular season", but he's no top line center. I think Seguin could be.
Seguin, Bergy, and Pevs as the 1...2...3 ... That's very do-able. Kinda makes UTE expendable if you look at it like that.
Wouldn't at all oppose a trade of the UTE to strengthen the team at wing or D ... |

horton is a wild card. if he comes back fully healthy and scoring all is good. if he's a soft shell crab, there are issues.
lucic, seguin, marchand, caron* all up for contracts at end of next year with groin and horton being up and UFA's as well. lots of guys in the AHL up for new deals this year too |

Spleenless Wonder got $1.6M per in Colorado too. They must be worried about the cap floor. |

I think Seguin will want Stamkos money no matter what kind of year he has |

my (frank) no
Stamkos has a 50 AND 60 goal season on his resume. Seguin has a (frank) ton of work to do before he can even hint at that elite level salary. |

There wasn't a happier guy at the parade last year. Horton was pumped up like a 12 year old girl at a Bieber concert.
I'm afraid he's never going to be the same, and that hurts us on the ice, and with the cap |

Do you think he's going to be an easy sign and do a bridge contract the way the Marchand eventually did?
I sure as hell dont. |

He will certainly command a raise beyond what Marchand did because he is obviously a superior player with a much higher ceiling. Would he command more then Bergy on a bridge contract? Its hard to say and a lot will determine what he does this upcoming season. All that being said he will have to have a Hart trophy caliber season to expect a Stamkos type deal IMO. |

I'm just afraid that we can't keep everybody, and are going to have to let a Ute/Luc type player go for a lesser player/pic(s) to fit under the cap |

then trade Thomas there since his doomsday bunker is there. He won't have to change the license plate on his 4 x 4, and wouldn't be far from his bug out bag. |

I like Oshie, I know he's had some issues in St Louis but I doubt they'd be eager to move him. With McDonald healthy and Berglund developing they should be in decent shape down the middle. |

i would put bergy on the top line as center, not sure seguin is ready to match up against the best on a night to night basis..losing #46 skill would be tough
but i would rather have someone who has skill, shows up every (frank)ing night, and physically abuses people
he would be a great insurance policy too for horton if he is (frank)ed long term |

Its chancy. I'd like to know about Horton before I start dealing away a player like Krejci. I think he is going to have a big year. Everybody will be energized and reading to go come October(maybe even xmass with a potential lockout). I give this core another shot before I start (frank)ing with it too much. A nice depth 20 goal winger and some experience on the backend to rotate in with Hamilton and I'm happy for now. |
