Vet 3rd line winger (Smyth?)
Vet depth on D (Hannan?)
and done? - Double_A
Smyth would be ideal on a one year deal. Doubt he wants to head east again but its a good fit. |

some interesting language with NTC and NMC on some deals...
horton isn't going anywhere this year... going to have to LTIR savard or trade Timmay's contract |

Meant Hannan, unless Zanon takes a major pay cut I don't see him back. I'm thinking somebody for $1M or under. Hannan's definitely got cement skates, but he's pretty savvy and would be a decent bottom pairing guy. Sarich is another guy if he's willing to take a cut that would be a good add.

Didn't notice Zanon laying down on the ice in front of Thomas for the majority of goals against us, eh?
(frank) that guy ... Don't ever want to see him in a spoked-B again |

Regarding Kelly and Campbell ...
I like that they're back, but don't necessarily love the cap hit for either, particularly Campbell. Don't like his term, either.
That said, I am glad they're back ... Just hoping Kelly can at least reproduce his productivity last season for the next 4 years and that these contracts don't become a hindrance to future roster moves...

I liked his motor and attitude, but man he was on the wrong end of a lot of bad d-zone muffs. I'd take him back as a #6/7 but not unless he was sub $1M |

as long as kelly and campbell don't have NMC or NTC they are fine deals. Those are the kinds of guys teams clamor for come trade deadline or over the summer for vet leadership and "grit". neither one is very thick though |

Smyth or Doan would look good in Boston...doubt we get either due to their loyalty to their teams.
Do any of you think we make a Krecji for Yandle type move?
Given our cap, and what we expect Tuukka to make, trades may be the only way we get better. |

Zanon... yawn. Useful body who blocks shots I guess. Guess you can't have enough D depth but jesus god I'd love a significant change back there, if only for pure entertainment purposes. BUT, D does work so... |

The only slot I would tinker with on the D is where we have Hamilton slated. (frank) the PMD search. Just another solid Boychuk/Ference type would really round out that unit well. |

Me too. He's rumored to be on the block down here. Same exact cap hit. PHX needs a #1 center. Last years leading scorer in the playoffs could certainly get you Yandle straight up.
Any idea if Rolston is coming back for another year? |

Poo tries real hard, but makes boneheaded moves far too often
I'd rather take an experience Rolston at the end of his career (14 point stretch in the final 12 games of season) than a guy who's neve even come close to living up to expectations. |

Sir, we'll have to agree to disagree. I didn't mind poo to be honest considering I had 0 expectations and I don't envision him to be more than a 3rd liner. When they were lifeless in the playoffs he makes a nice play and drives to the net and gets a greasy goal. He comes back and gets comfortable this year on another 1 yr deal to prove himself, I think he'll do better in Cloooodes system. Spooner, Knight and a couple others are knocking. I also don't know if Bourque's kid is ready for the 3rd / 4th line. All I know is Rollston is toasted. |

My issue with him is he has too many brain farts. With corvo off the team, it will seem even worse. I think we have the best 4th line in hockey and they don't make a lot of errors, so when a guy like Poo F's up, it's magnified.
Bourques kid will be a call up.
I'd like to see what Caron can do this year before thinking about Spoon or Knight |

This is a bit of a make or break year for Caron. He's shown flashes but they've been few and far between. Maybe if he's got a spot and plays consistently it will come together but he's kind of waiting for the "i get it" light to click on and stay on. Last year under his deal so i'm sure he'll want a new one. He could either score 20 or score 5 and be in and out of the lineup. Up to him. Poo is dumb as poop |

Poo under $2m > Rolston IMHO.
I like the depth and experience Rolston brought us but Poo is more useful at this point of their careers. Now if Rolston was willing to take south of $1m thats another story. That being said I would like a new face in that third line slot. Caron should be first in line to crack the top nine but if we can find another gritty, 15 goal guy on the market at the right price I'd do that. |
