Parise or Suter. You can only sign one. Which one. I don't think the answer is as clear as people think.[/img]

Damn. Might be Suter actually. But with Hamilton coming up and our lack of offense down the stretch.... Thats a tough one man.

Doesn't matter because we wont sign either.

Hope Hamilton doesn't get hammered by critics for not being physical for a big dude early on. Hope he's up too next year -- sounds like he could use the mentoring of the big boys and can only help the PP.

Like the rundown on others, was a bit clueless as usual.

Ya would love either but I can't imagine getting one. Zero FA big fish landed since big Z. Both would be the right fit IMO tho, never know.

I like Trotman too. In the few games I saw him, he looked great. Nothing fancy, just safe and reliable.

Even more-so, though, I really like Miller. I could see this kid in the NHL sooner than later. His game just continued to get better and better as the season went on. He's transitioned very well from college to pro. Big body, physical, drops 'em from time to time .... He's like a bigger version of Mark Stuart, only more defensively-sound.

Cohen will never be an NHL'er. I doubt Button ever gets there either. I haven't seen enough of Cross to form an opinion yet ...

Bartkowski could get there if he loses the Matt Hunwick post-spleen hangover. Guy can skate and has a hell of a shot ... Just doesn't use his head enough.

Move him at the deadline like we did Kampher for a Zanon type player next year

ur core is in place. A core that won the Stanley Cup. Its obvious the team needs to make a few tweaks to get another whiff of the finals but I just can't see Chiarelli adding a big ticket UFA that will cost us someone else a year down the road.

He will sign a top 9 UFA forward like he said, somebody like Ray Whitney on a one year deal. And assuming everyone is healthy...

whitney doesn't do one year deals, which is why he is where he is
he will want a 3 year even when he is 50
hasn't burned the dogs, yet
the guy doesn't age

History dictates that you're correct. A lot is still up in the air in the desert despite their run. A player such as he was more of my point. I consider Kelly gone, he will want nearly $4m like Peverley got.

I want Kelly back

Seems like we ned his stick on the ice and his presence in the lockerroom.

I'd rather have Parise than Suter. We need to score!!!

Me too, but we can't really afford either without moving a contract, thus (frank)ing with a Stanley-CUP winning core.

No thanks.

Lucic, Horton, Seguin and Marchand all up for new deals after next season. If you feel Kelly is more important then any one of those players and you wish to pony up the dough for him, be prepared to potentially lose one of those young forwards after next year.

Ference is also up after next season as well. And Caron.

Yup ...

If there's one thing I learned from playing out different scenarios with Cap Geek on that post a couple pages back that nobody payed attention to , it's that we really can't afford any big-ticket free agents without (frank)ing up the rest of the team.

Fiction can be fun ... But I find the reference section a little more enlightening.

Big ticket free agent ain't gonna happen. Time to focus on reality.

Wouldn't mind a David Jones-type added to the mix. Something like that could potentially happen should Tuukka be signed for less than 4 per and we say bye bye to Pouliot.

Pretty sure Zanon is gone too, and I'm fine with that. Don't think he's worth the mid-range salary. Would rather see Dougie in the mix being mentored by Z and Seids, which will likely happen.

Really want Kelly back, but I think he likely prices himself out of town.

I was surprised at how much he made. Under $1M and he'd be a solid #7, not worth a whole lot more than that though.

Whole off-season will swing on what happens with Timmy.

Tuukka is re-signed if Timmy's here or not I would think. Sounds like they expect Horton to be ready for camp, but I wouldn't be surprised if they just let him walk when his contract is up.

Wouldn't mind seeing Ward finally canned if he is indeed the one responsible for the powerplay....

Won a CUP last spring DESPITE his incompetence.

Lost in the 1st round this year due to many things, including another horrific powerplay under his watch.
Time to go ...

Wouldn't mind Chiarelli scouring the globe far and wide for the best powerplay guy available, and bringing him in just to coach that. I don't even care if he speaks (frank)ing English ... There's been nowhere to go but up in that department for 2 seasons straight now.

Marc Savard makes $4m a year from home....I'd reach out to him to see if he would be interested in a consulting role for the PP. I'm serious.

Horton is done and it sucks! But he'll clear up cap space the Savard way. Marchand was a good boy and took a bridge contract, so he'll expect to be paid....but is an RFA so we can probably keep him around 4-ish a year.

I move Seguin, Lucic, and Hamilton to Edmonton for Eberle, the #1 overall pick(Russian), and another defensive player/pick

Eberle is a right handed point a game player who will command less money than Seguin.

I'm tired of Lucic's no shows in the playoffs.
