Horton is done and it sucks! But he'll clear up cap space the Savard way. Marchand was a good boy and took a bridge contract, so he'll expect to be paid....but is an RFA so we can probably keep him around 4-ish a year.
I move Seguin, Lucic, and Hamilton to Edmonton for Eberle, the #1 overall pick(Russian), and another defensive player/pick
Eberle is a right handed point a game player who will command less money than Seguin.
I'm tired of Lucic's no shows in the playoffs. - bruinsbeer69

Just thinking outside the box
The problem with the CBA is that there is the potential for a lot of turnover, and there isn't a bridge contract. Marchand was the exception to the rule for most of the league, really.
I view Eberle and Seguin as a push.
I'm tired of wanting more from Looch and not getting it(Reminds me of Joe), and Hamilton may turn out to be the next Shaone Morrisonn.
They need D help, and we need scoring, and the ability to work the cap, which is not Harvards strong point. So, Eberle takes less than Tyler on his contract(who will probably want Stamkos money), we get the little commie sniper first overall pick on an entry level contract for the next 3 years, and they send us something else to help even it out.
They get some muscle and size up front, and a Defenseman that they need. We get consistent scoring help and cap relief to sign more of our current team.

I DO like the fact that you don't think we rubber stamp all the key players. Not all these guys should be treated as definite keepers cuz we won. If someone comes along thru FA or trade who's better, well (frank) the core. Very few exceptions to me. Bergy and Z, that's about it. Probably Seguin.
I hate that deal tho bro. |

I probably wouldn't pull the trigger on it either. I just know Tyler is going to want the 7 million a year range, less than a year after not being responsible enough to wake up for a team meeting. Is it a deal breaker? No! But when we female dog about the Nash, Ovechkin, and probably Parise contract...I just see that Tyler ca fall into that category, and it will make us a less complete team, especially with Harvard signing the deals.
Looch is also on my sh!t list! If he shows up for just one game, we win this freakin series. I'm sick of him going dark for long stretches.
If you look at the deal on its surface:
Edmonton gets:
Seguin
Lucic
Hamilton (Edmontons main area of concern)
Boston gets:
Eberle
Nail Yakupov

Now, if I suggested we make a trade for the sisters and Luongo, then I'd understand the hacking questions.
I just really like Eberle...to be honest, more than I like Seguin. And I'm really pissed at Looch. That Commie is going to be a sniper...like a Pavel Bure Sniper. We can't just give them Corvo, Paille, Zanon, Dorothy, and Caron for that. It takes something to get something. |

I'm as big an Eberle fan as there is ... but I wouldn't do that ..... ever.
I don't think Seguin gets to 7 on this next contract. I would guess 4-5 short term and then a huge one assuming he gets to an elite level on the next one. |

He's done more so far then Phil did at the same age and that twat wanted almost $6m. Hopefully he isn't as big as a me first female genitalia and we can get three more years out of him for around Bergy $$$. |

Despite his lackluster play vs. Wash Looch certainly gets a pass. Most affected Bruin by Horton's absence. The fact that Chia did nothing to address that gap this year (and replaced Ryder with Pouliot) instead of suddenly realizing that in his post mortem is more contentious BUT, yes, 1 year (down from 2) amnesty in effect. The impact of this miss was most glaring once Bergy got injured. That said, amnesty period now over Chia so make it right or let the ripping begin. Note to you: depth does not just equal warm bodies Harvard (one year since I've used that term, feels good ).
Seguin indeed gets a pass too as it is easily arguable he did his part in the series getting a huge GWG in game 6 and GTG in game 7 as a sophomore. Others who needed to step up and contribute to win a game did or could not.
This leads to the coaching staff's amnesty period ending too. Despite all of the above, this sleepwalk of a loss sprinkled with sterile PP play is the backdrop for the start of year 2 post Cup. Not nearly as stanky as the backdrop post Filthy 3-0, 3-0, but close to the feeling I had about them going into seasons after the FLA loss and especially the Carolina loss whatever those years were.
All year was a pass for all: not worried about this, the Bruins will take care of that in due time, come the playoffs this lackluster play will dissipate as the B's who've been there will turn the switch on, xyz will pick up the slack, etc. Year's grace has come and gone.
And as I said, we saw the results: no pressure, no drive, no win, no problem. Well, the honeymoon's over now b!tches. Not calling for anyone's head, just saying that usual (pre-Cup) hawk-like scrutiny is back in full effect starting now. |
