Bro-in-law got hitched on a boat in False Creek. Then we headed out to the Island for a day. Good times, hadn't spent much time there before. Beautiful country out there. We came back on the #3 through Osoyoos and Fernie ... holy sh!t is that a nice drive.

I smell a lockout

- JS2012

the owners take all the risk, they deserve to make (frank)ing money
on the other hand, as usual, most of the games problems are because they can't help themselves from overpaying and doing other stupid poop
yes, owning a team is a lot a bout prestige and ego, but they are allowed to make as much as they reasonably can...or as much as the fans will put up with

teams like toronto, like how boston used to be...supposedly want to win yet still fill the building and never do
until fans stop going the owners will continue to bend people over, and rightfully so

it's a (frank)ing business

revenue sharing would work if the league put teams in places where they would thrive and if people who managed those teams knew what the (frank) they were doing
revenue sharing is why the nfl is what it is...the owners in the nhl who are in "hockey markets" want no part of it
they do not subscribe to the a rising tide lifts all boats theory, they want it for themselves and the league suffers

look at what the cap ceiling was coming out of the last lockout, and now what the cap floor is...yeah THAT worked
as i have said before, the owners thought they raped the players last time and it took one ufa day and maybe the following year for them realize that they (frank)ed themselves
oh well, bad business decision..own it
now they are trying to get it all back and the pr against them will not be pretty
fehr is no dummy, the players will win the hearts and minds on this one and as good as mr twitchy is with this stuff if he goes 100% hard line again he will be (frank)ing himself and his constituents

Don't shoot the messenger on this one, for the record I see no validity in this at all. Let alone the fact we are talking abiout Boston-Montreal and the lack of a trade history between these 2 clubs at all, but I heard talk yesterday of a Subban for Lucic trade.

can someone knife you?

can't see that making too much sense for either team, especially habs with pacioretty, cole, bourque, prust, moen all locked up. sounds like montreal media drumming up some non-story in the summer, ss (5)

I had the same reaction.

Montreal doesn;t have a very good D entering this season and PK is really the only top 6 right handed D on the team. Habs do however need LWers though and my guess is that despite the hate, there is secret love for Lucic.

On LW we have Pacioretty and then Moen as the 2nd best.

I'd say not a chance ... but I figured there was no way we'd draft a goalie in the 1st never mind Malcolm . Still don't see it happening ... ever ... but stranger things have happened I suppose.

Maybe not

In other news Pernell Jr. had another solid game for Canada last night to win the Can-Rus Challenge.

Dougie had an underwhelming performance in the tourney on the whole. Much like last years WJC's showed some excellent flashes and made some questionable decisions. Chases the puck a lot, can tell he's a converted forward. Niagra has an all Guns Blazin' strategy so it's not a huge surprise that he's a gambler. Will take some time for him to adjust, but he's got the tools.

Another solid game? He wasn't very good in this tournament until last night.

Well if Ek is talking about it, there's less than a 1% chance of it happening

I can see PK signing an offer sheet, but I would highly doubt that it would be from us.

Chiarelli likes to plan ahead, and we've got too many big names up for new contracts after this coming season. Just wouldn't work.

? He only played Games 1 & 4 and was named Canada's player of the game (or awarded the cape or whatever gimmick they had) in Game 1.

"We've got a player of the game type of gag where we're giving out a cape in honor of the guys from Canada's 1972 team that we consider heroes of our country," Spott said. "We're calling Subban the hero of the day, and he gets the cape with our logo. He was outstanding, making key saves at key times."

Ex-Bruin Matt Lashoff playing in Switzerland
Link|Comments (2) Posted by Fluto Shinzawa, Globe Staff August 15, 2012 04:29 PM

By Fluto Shinzawa, Globe Staff
When the Bruins drafted Matt Lashoff in the first round of 2005, they believed they were landing an offensive-minded NHL defenseman. Seven years later, Lashoff is no longer in the league.

Lashoff is playing for Switzerland’s Zurich Lions. Lashoff is teammates with former Boston College captain Ryan Shannon, who is also kicking off his first season in Zurich.

Unlike their former NHL colleagues, Lashoff and Shannon are already in action. They both appeared in a preseason game on Tuesday.

“It’s different. It’s tough to compare,” Shannon said of the Swiss game. “Players, for the most part, are in incredible shape. They take care of themselves. They’re very fast, very skilled. They play the game at a really fast level. The ice is bigger. It seems like the game slows down a little bit. There’s more playmaking involved.”

Lashoff projected to have the necessary skills to become an NHL regular. Lashoff was comfortable skating the puck out of danger. Lashoff had good vision and soft hands. But like many young defensemen, Lashoff struggled when he made mistakes. He didn’t have the confidence to dig himself out of trouble. As a result, the game slipped away from him even more.

By 2009, Lashoff didn’t figure in the Bruins’ plans. On March 4, 2009, the Bruins traded Lashoff and Martins Karsums to Tampa Bay for Mark Recchi and a 2010 second-round pick. Recchi was a critical piece in the Bruins’ Cup run in 2010-11. Lashoff couldn’t gain traction in Tampa nor in Toronto, his next stop.

There will be more on hockey in Switzerland in Sunday’s Globe.

Good night for Boston's prospects.

Think Subban is going to go celebrate in Mother Russia with a few drinks like some Black Russians?
