I don't expect PC to sign anyone before he knows the landscape ... for better or worse, I don't know, but I get the feeling he's not handing out any long term deals until he knows how things are going to work.

if they can work out a longer term deal than the 5 year ones that are the proposed max...i can see them doing that

The Edmonton Oilers are talking to forwards Taylor Hall and Jordan Eberle about new contract extensions.

According to TSN Edmonton reporter Ryan Rishaug, the Oilers and Hall are very close to an agreement, while negotiations with Eberle's camp are ongoing.

Both players are entering the final seasons of their three-year, entry-level contracts. Should they not sign contract extensions, both would become restricted free agents at the end of the 2012-13 season.

the issue with the bruins doing it is jacobs is notorious for being on the conservative side with this stuff, meaning it will much harder for him to break ranks when he is one of the top guys who has been behind all of this with the cba and wanting it re-done
