it's a story man. one year after wining the cup he goes awol while hollering his political agenda to whomever would listen. haggs and anyone else has a right and an obligation to cover that story to the fullest.
i bet if TT went all "gays are awesome", "raise taxes on the rich", "free abortions" he'd get a lot more criticism around here.
i mean i'm all for what he did for the team. who would not be? he just took a huge steaming dump on his legacy in my opinion. - Fountain-San
From most of us in here, but not from the bow tied butt kissers at the Globe. Kevin Paul Douche-pont would have a Haggerty like man-crush on him if Timmay were a lib-tard |

Fair enough, although I somehow doubt anyone around here would object to free abortions in the States
It was a story, but it wasn't exactly handled by pro journalists without bias, hell most guys didn't even feign impartiality or lack of personal agendas/politics. And now, its over and done with ... TT has been in the cone of silence for 6 months.
I get that his image is tarnished in the eyes of some. And I know think it's a distinct possibility that the guy was a bit of a turd, but in all honesty it doesn't make an ounce of difference to me. Somehow I doubt he's the only one in that locker room, much less the league that's a d-bag or has wacko political beliefs. - Double_A
Yeah, isn't Georges La-crack-roque the head of some political party up in Canada.....oh, wait, you said in the league. Nevermind |

No, no ... he's too busy as the head of a CHL player's association that doesn't actually exist. |

Interesting tidbits on the new CBA. Teams can now legitimately talk to UFA's prior to July 1 ... not like it didn't happen before but now they don't have to hide it, only makes sense.
I like the ability to absorb $ on trades too, should open up the market a bit. |

Is Boston upset that Burke was fired?
You won't be able to acquire another Seguin/Hamilton in exchange for Kessel.

We already got everything good from TO ... time for Burke to get hired somewhere else, preferably Edmonton or Minnesota so we can raid their cupboards too. |

"Brian Burke followed him with the clout of a Stanley Cup ring, and a resume that earned him more autonomy than any general manager in recent memory.
But in fine Maple Leaf general manager tradition, he either traded away picks before the draft or wasn't able to pick the best available player when his turn came along.
He may have never uttered the words "draft schmaaft," but his signature move -- trading three draft picks – two first-rounders and a second-rounder – to Boston for Phil Kessel, has Maple Leaf DNA all over it.
And the highest pick he retained during any of his first three Maple Leaf drafts – the No. 7 overall in 2009, he used to take Nazem Kadri, a player who remains very much a work in progress at age 22.
I nterestingly, Kadri is the only player selected by Burke to play a single NHL game. Among players taken during the '09, '10 and '11 drafts there are 90 players who've participated in NHL games. But Kadri, whose status in the NHL remains iffy, is the only Leaf." |
